Is gmail the best email software ever?
yes ofc

Why does it use more memory than any other tab I leave open if it has a simple job and is maintained by the biggest software company in the world?

seems to be the theme these days.
whats wrong with html/css/html5?
specially with push towards mobile browsing/
Considering there's no secure alternative, might as well give it all to Google.

ITT kids who never used a REAL email client such as Outlook
>>60900548
that's even worse
>>60900347
Why does this even exist? What's the difference from Gmail? Why do they develop 2 separate email apps?
Their software is shit but the service is solid. Get a $5/month GSuite subscription if you're concerned about privacy and stop expecting a free lunch.
I find outlook easier to work with

If you've ever used a GTD application like Wunderlist, Any.do or Todoist, you'll recognize the mechanics.

Inbox has a more task-oriented focus and organization, and has a more personal-centric design.

Why can't google build a half-decent webmail page?
>>60900723
Exactly, shouldn't use more than 4chan.
>tried using ~5 other email apps on Android
>Still went back to Gmail
It's the king

Other email apps have to go check for email themselves, so they consume far more battery than Gmail.

does it allow smtp?
is POP3 inherently more secure by design?
does it mitigate some privacy by only using it as a protocol instead of being stored on a server for a decade?
as opposed to IMAP obv
>>60902492
also considering POP3 only allows a single client at a time?
by privacy and security i mean by 3rd parties who are trying to steal ur data not by the email providers
>>60899967
yeah ofcourse dude!!
they read the content of ur emails for targeted advertising but why would i care when its google lollll xdddd
yay gmail!! :DDDD
>>60902315
yes
I'm using the Samsung email client on my S7 and Thunderbird on my T420. Pretty satisfactory.
>>60899967
not sure but it's one of the most spying
>>60899999
the quints have spoken
but seriously though, I don't like giving this company more data on myself than they already have. And convenience < freedom
>>60900707
I fucking love being able to snooze emails at work. Clean inbox and I don't actually forget about things.
