oh boy...a dedicated card for bitniggers
>The first and most important information is that there at least two SKUs for miners being prepared by NVIDIA. Allegedly there’s a GP104-100 card in the making, based on GTX 1080/1070 design. We don’t know yet how many CUDA cores are enabled, but since GP104-100 is said to be paired with GDDR5X memory it may as well be GTX 1080. These cards are said to be more efficient than normal GeForce cards in cryptocurrency mining (~30 to ~10% depending on SKU).

>30% more mining performance
So, it'll finally match a 5 year old AMD GPU at mining then?
Good to know nVidia are helplessly trying to hop on the cryptowagon. If only to see them fail helplessly at it.

>3 months warranty
is it cheaper?

People use AMD because their card was cheaper tho
>just in time for the big crash
>>60898991
you mean the buy dip
>>60898968
>paying two times for the card to get 20W less usage
Yeah, that's retarded. Just because the 1070 can mine doesn't mean you're going to buy one specifically to do it. These Nvidia cards are likely still going to be overpriced as fuck and no match for AMD cards at mining.
Plus, if they're using GDDR5X, they're already fucked, apparently it actually performs worse at mining than normal GDDR5.

>GDDR5X actually performs worse at mining than normal GDDR5.
Wut? Also the 1070 use 'normal' GDDR5...
How hard is it to get into mining? I have an interest in it,but I don't know where to start.
>>60902490
Bump for this
>>60902490
>How do you get into mining?
How do I breathe?
>>60901547

This is true, but only for ethereum. Nvidia cards, especially 1080 (ti) are better at mining other coins like zcash.
Also it's already kinda too late to get into mining because ethereum will soon switch to PoS algo, making mining useless.
>>60902490
did you try googling "how to start mining"
Anyone want a little money?

Would be cool. My eth wallet

At least Nvidia is handing this correctly
AMD just fucked over their own prices and following.

Okay, I want two

what else does it do?
>>60905061
heater
What happens to these once mining isn't profitable anymore?
>>60905129
password cracking
>>60905129
They get sold off as horribly abused cards which have been running continuously for months and then fail.
>>60905138
What about Bitcoin ASICs, do they have any use outside of mining?
>>60905155
Would a dedicated mining GPU even be good for gaming?
>>60905138
so you cant use this for encoding?

Space heaters for mice or makeshift throwing stars
>>60905342
So they're useless for literally anything but mining Bitcoin? (I guess at this point most of them are useless for that too)
>>60905382
What the fuck did you think ASIC stood for?
