What am I in for?

Learning useless stuff from 30 years ago. Stop being a dork and install Libre Office faggot.
>>60898650
I have libre office. Is there an IDE in that suite?

>Vi is simply a word processor
Back to Facebook stupid Millenial
>>60898662
There's a lot in here
>>60898650
I too, use Libreoffice Writer when writing C programs
>>60898633
Just do vimtutor lol, I can't imagine what use you will get out of a 400 page book.

Welcome to O'Reilly.
>>60898633
a snoozefest. just learn by using it and googling
>>60898633
Hopefully you realize you meant to download the emacs manual?
>>60898785
>>60898770
And miss out on all these hilarious jokes?
>>60898633
Vi is great (even as an emacs user) but you don't need a book for it
Just go through a tutorial and start working with it. You're wasting time better spent programming.

Reading userfriendly.org directly would be a lot less tedious. God fucking damn, I didn't know that the series is still running. A blast from the past, so to speak.
>>60898650
I know this is a joke but sadly many students in my programming classes literally do their stuff in MS word
>>60898633
Can someone explain to me why programming books always have pictures of weird animals on them?
>>60899527
What else would you put on them?
Just the title would be quite dull.

If you stare at a black console for so long your eyes will become like that demon on the book cover.
Take my advice and use Sublime Text 3 with a light theme like a sane person.
You don't want to be rolled in therapy.
Anyone can share the latest edition in pdf?

They normaly don't, with the exception of python-books for obvious reasons. It's an O'Riley thing. They always put pics of species that are threatened by extinction, I believe, on their book covers.

this
I did the tutorial, and picked up a ton of stuff from youtube vids
the rest of the stuff I learned by using vim and looking up the specific issues I ran into
now I use vim keys for literally everything
the biggest thing you have to remember is macros, there is absolutely no task you need to repeat
vim is all about saving time and typing as little as possible
with some dedication you'll become a ninja in no time
also learn regex when you're comfortable using vim for everything
regex is when vim really shines, but there are even higher levels to ascend to after that
