this and freenet are cool, but i can't think of a real reason to use them in the Western world unless you're a pedo.

/cyb/ + /sec/ uses it apparently, as well as /1cc/
Is it the new tor?
>>
>>60894062
I've used it for a little while. At the time there was cute little websites and zerochan. Yeah, there's """diverse""" porn, too.

Be careful. Websites are saved onto your computer for future browsing and seeding.
>>
>>60894075
This. There are literally tons of pedos on 0chan porn.

I wish party van catch them all.
>>
I had to stop using it because people kept littering it with CP.

Why?

I asked once and someone said the datastore on your computer is not even encrypted, let alone zero knowledge. That means your machine will get loaded up with the worst CP the second you run this shit lol. How about no
>>
>>60894062
Still use it to download movies
>>
>>60899307
Is there good quality?
>>

Good enough for me, im not a pixel peeper though
>>
Is it like RetroShare or Demonsaw?
>>
>>60894097
I always thought combing torrents with web browsing would be perfect for stuff like sadpanda
>>
>uses bittorrent protocol
>through Tor
It is shit. Just use GNUnet to share files.
>>
its honestly the last hope to prevent censorship from (((hollywood)))DMCA and the SJW vindicators who censor the net

everything else is outdated and unmaintained or its written in java which makes it way more difficult to audit

also its GPL
>>
>>60901465
>same poster in every thread about anon protocols

GNUNET HASENT HAD A UPDATE IN 3 YEARS YOU FUCKING SHILL

ZeroNet was very interesting on release but IPFS is on track to deprecate it by being more modular and having less limitations in the core+protocol, I'm kind of disappointed the concept of Bittorrent in the browser didn't take of sooner. I know the official BT devs were trying with their whole DNA(Delivery Network Accelerator) thing but nobody used that. Either way I'm very excited to see project like this and am hopeful to see what happens in a few years. You're seeing more and more decentralized systems getting traction and I'll take literally anything over centralized, fragile, and name-addressed distribution systems. IPFS seems to be the next contender and the concepts it has are great, in theory you could use IPFS to access BT/ZN content as well as content on other distributed networks like Freenet, all from the same interface (CLI, Browser, whatever) seamlessly. I really feel like that's going to be the thing to push hard against things like HTTP since people won't have to choose one network over the other, they can just use what they want and let a common client do all the routing necessary, this allows for new implementations to form too without the usual transitional pain users have ("oh no I have to migrate all my content from freenet to zeronet and it takes more effort than it should").

It's not surprising you see the same posters crop up in threads like these, there's probably not a lot of people interested in P2P technologies. I know I make an effort to contribute in threads liek these because they're somewhat rare.

Also, GNUnet is under active development and it's parts receive updates every week.

This tbqh famalam.
I wish GNUnet to grow just to spite copyright holders.
