I use Windows on my laptop for several reasons:
- Need it to access a browser to surf/email/banking,
- I run audacity audio application for recording guitar and mixing tracks,
- Run app to view pdfs that has my sheet music
- Run MMO games like WoW and Wildstar
- Have absolutely extra no time to learn a new operating system and struggle with audio/video driver setups to do all the things I need to accomplish

Both WoW and Wildstar have a great/amazing rating on wine (Linux's Windows "compatibility layer") there's even playonlinux (similar to playonmac) a program with a easy af interface that installs everything for you.
Audacity runs natively on Linux.
PDF readers on Linux are just as good as on WIndows and there's chromium and firefox and many other browsers.
You don't really need to learn shit if you use a Linux distribution with the GNOME or Unity desktop interfaces.

Because I use programs that aren't compiled for *nix, and I'm not gonna troubleshoot with WINE and shit just to end up with a subpar experience if they ever work at all.

Because I'm actually employed with a 6 figure salary that requires me to use enterprise software that is made for windows.

Locked into the Ms eco system because of grad school. Programs like access, word, OneNote, etc. Also, I have a thinkpad x230t, and I don't feel like hunting down worse-performing drivers for pen input and all that.

I use a 2011 MacBook Pro. It still gets about 6-7 hours of battery life and it's more than fast enough for me since I upgraded it to a 275GB SSD and 16GB of RAM. OS X is decent, and works about as well as Debian does for my purposes. I've tried to install Debian but the hybrid MBR thing in the EFI always fucks it up and makes it unstable. It also gets like 2 hours of battery life with Debian.

The GPU/driver support is atrocious.

I can't get my GPU to work with any kind of drivers and yes I have tried everything I can think of. But when following the Debian wiki step by step makes the OS unbootable I seriously doubt that it was my error.

I have now conceded and am dual booting windows for the times I need a GPU.

I dual boot windows on it just in case I feel like playing a game while my mrs is hogging my desktop which is hooked up to the tv.

But I'll probably end up removing windows altogether when we inevitably break up in the coming week :^)
