Its a 8 core bulldozer CPU clocked at 2.3ghz with a Polaris RX 480 GPU

Vast majority of games are going to be 30 fps @ 4k or 60 fps @ 1080p.
Very few will be able to run at 60 fps on true 4k res

Here is a game that runs VERY well on amd hardware(which both the xbox and ps4 are on)
Notice 60 fps on 4k is much more demanding than what a RX 480 can produce.
I know optimaztion but at this point console hardware is just prefabed PC hardware designed in a way to save space.

4x AA
16x AF
High every settings
SSAO or FSAO?

I highly doubt any of that. Majority may be around medium mix with high and possibly low settings. Maybe the games do run at 60fps at 4K but at what settings? They wouldn't be lying if it was the case, but they are not telling the whole story.

And this is something Console kiddies cant understand. Maybe my PC can play Fallout 4 or whatever like a console can, but I can also play it at various settings to make it either look better or play better (better FPS or whatever) and in some cases, ability to mod it (a lot of new games you cant, but some of the good games you can). Etc etc etc.

Xbox One X looks like it has pretty darn good hardware, but lets be real here - consoles are pretty locked systems and I think they are good for only one thing. While I go on here on a PC to talk to you people, or use Kodi for shit, or other stuff. I am less limited. And that is definitely worth the price to pay more. Oh, and I am not paying $70 a year to play online either.

since you did not list settings or price, I'm just gonna do my own thing. 4k 30fps is easy to hit especially if you're at least a little bit flexible with your settings. 60fps, not so much especially when you're trying to max shit out. so this build is just my little dream build for what I would go for if I was hunting down 4k 60fps max. would go with ryzen but ryzen mitx mobos needs more time to restock.

Microsoft is also probably bullshitting somewhere with this "4k 4k 4k" talk coming from a console that could barely hold 60fps at 1080 with whatever settings the devs decided.

Microsoft, with developer access to both Direct X, full-control over the hardware, and literally being given the "keys to city" by AMD, has created something unique.

There are a lot of names for it, "adaptive scaling", but it's a move away from "pixel perfect" picture creation.

To use an analogy, it's like those sweepstakes, with some asshole running through store pushing everything into his cart in 1.5 minutes and he gets to keep it all for free.

You can:

A. Meticulously clear off every shelf, ensuring you grab every item you pass.

B. Arms wide open grab as much as you can, not bothering with stuff that falls or you miss, and instead focusing on just running as fast as possible - only bothering to double back after you've hit every aisle at least once.

Microsoft has successfully achieved Option B with Scorpio. PC guys shouldn't feel threatened, DirectX 12 will be a big step to bringing this to everyone, and honestly: it's the future.

4k blu-ray is a meme. There are very few movies available and a good amount are just upscaled 2k masters anyway.

$500 USD is $660 CAD right now and I bet Xbox One X will be $700-$750 CAD anyways.

I think you can build a decent system that can run 4k on medium settings with a few things on low, while maintaining decent fps, no need for AA on top.

I would go with a 1060 6GB as it seems to play better with lower end CPUs compared to RX series. A 1050 ti might even be possible to use, but limits your game selection quite a bit I think.

SSD would improve performance, but not in the budget unfortunate.

Prices for HDD/SSD/RAM are insane right now. Used to be able to get 1TB for $40-$50 CAD on sale, 8GB for $50, etc.

Xbox One X is a very competitive system for the moment, too bad it's closed off. If it ran a regular version of Windows 10 as well, it would be a pretty awesome machine. Otherwise they expect to make money back on it from all the games you will purchase.

The reality is is the XXX will be capable of playing gmaes at 4k60fps. The thing everyone forgets is how shitty games look on consoles. Skyrim on my common laptop on low settings to get a playable FPS looked better than Skyrim on my X360. So yeah, MS will publish games that run at 4k60 on it, like Forza, but you can see from the trailer the quality drops big time during actual racing.

Consoles also generally do run at lower settings, they keep things like textures at a medium/high level because they have the vram but in terms of AA and most other post-processing effects, and especially even AF, they usually run at sometimes as low as 2x, and this is on current generation i.e. ps4/xbox one. They really run paired back settings as much as possible, just keeping textures and all higher, not to mention the LOD settings on most consoles is generally shit or culled to no end. The cpu will be a huge bottleneck whether people like to think it or not, 2.3ghz and 8 cores still isn't shit, in terms of getting some games to run at 60fps it will really need as much optimisation as possible. It is kind of strange to see how low the clock speed really is, i know the whole muh ghz meme, but it still matters in terms of single-thread bound things as some games still throw ai or other elements entirely on 1 cpu thread. Hell the xbox 360 was a 3 core 6 thread cpu running at 3.2ghz so not that far off in terms of available threads from what the newer console gen has.

Yes but the consoles, both the xbox one and ps4 use 5400rpm harddrives in 2.5" form factor (basically laptop drives). There is quite the difference between a 5400rpm drive and a 7200rpm drive especially when they're being hit hard by I/O requests and in terms of general responsiveness.

It's probably doing the same as PS4 pro is doing, lowering graphics and upscaling resolution. Doing true 4k is extremely demanding even on sintetic benchmarks with no game logic involved.
A 580 teorically can manage to output 2k with lowered graphic settings and upscale to 4k.
Counting on favor of console is an apu with gddr5, and shared memory. The good part of this shit is that games will probably make games more threaded and it's a gain for PC's.
