VPNs are snake oil, they don't protect you
>>
>openvpn on a vps
>>
>>60885566
Just get Private Internet Access, it's good enough to foil just about anyone trying to track you except the toppest of brass.

you spam every vpn thread
how bout you enlighten us all then faggot
otherwise, stop spreading FUD

Wow! First time posting this on a VPN thread, honestly. If other people already realized and said the exact same thing you probably should listen to what we say instead of getting mad

Buying the service doesn't guarantee they comply if a three letter agency already has eyes on it, not even if they genuinely try to honor the "no logs" commitment, agencies like NSA are known not to respect this and even hack these places, so there goes your 100% certainty

From that you can say a VPS protects you for stuff like torrents, but again if they have a secret deal with say MPAA this doesn't protect you, there are non-disclosure agreements you won't hear where victims of copyright were forced to keep quiet

I honestly don't know of a secure VPS

OP is still a human. If he uses his vpn and still checks facebook or a million other things then now that's linked to him. a vpn is just a tool to be used. if used improperly there's no reason to use it.

it's like using tor to buy child pornography but signing up with your real name.
>>
>>60885841
What if OP needs a VPN to secure his ass in a public WiFi network? Or any untrusted network?
>>
>>60885566
>Just get Private Internet Access,

I got this. I'm pretty happy with it. It's inexpensive, and it was easy to configure my qBittorrent client to use it.

>>60885841
>NSA

Everyone knows there's no protection from that. The main point is to reduce the casual snooping -- for example, to stop your ISP from suspending your service for DMCA complaints when you use bittorrent -- things like that.
>>
>>60885566
Why do you think somebody is tracking you? Paranoia?
>>
>>60885997
Yes, there are cases for using a VPS, but selling it as a "cure all diseases" should stop.

>>60886004
If you want such a thing you better look for other alternatives. Which are not exactly available yet.
>>
>>60885566
triple dubs, well done cunt

openvpn code was recently audited, use it and not a client made by the vpn provider coz they are buggy as fuck and can introduce vulnerabilities
https://ostif.org/the-audit-of-openvpn-is-complete
https://openvpn.net/index.php/open-source/downloads.html

using a vpn will pass on trust from your isp to them
private internet access has been proven not to log

>>
>>60885997
Secure his ass how?
STARTTLS for your email, HTTPS for web browsing, SSH for remote control, SFTP for file transfers and so on.
In terms of incoming connections from the LAN, you still have routes for the LAN, by connecting to a VPN you only expose yourself to another network.
>>
>>60886012
because I got a call from a competitor (PC repair) saying they are going to track me.

I'm not trying to protect myself from gubernment but from random wanna be Mr. Robots
>>
>>60886129
By having additional SSL over your connection to stop potential threats like injecting malicious code into unencrypted traffic such as HTTP, or weak ciphers on some https certs. With VPN you force an additional layer of authentication and encryption.
>>
>>60886162
>saying they are going to track me.
Isn't it illegal to do such things?
>>

You're either a CIA nigger or a poorfag who can't afford one
