Why aren't your running linux exclusively from USB boot?

I am. It's slowly killing my USB from it being a rolling distro but I'm too lazy to shrink my laptop's HDD partitions to make room for it.
The manufacturer used XFS on the /home partition and it can't shrink live so I'd have to backup everything.

No, I just installed to USB to test it out and never got around to installing it proper.
Even after I dropped the laptop with the USB in and forced it into RO mode, I just bought another USB and cloned it.
