Has there been any documented cases of bad displayport cables killing GPUs with 20th pin power? I ran a card for like 6 months not knowing this bad cable was causing my boot/sleep isssues with a live 20th pin and I've been getting frequent system freezes when the GPU is under load lately.
You guys think that probably fried something?

That is the exact issue I have had on my RX 480 when connected through DP. The icing on this turd cake is that this cable was included with my Benq GW2765HT monitor.
One day there would be no display when using DP, but lo and behold as soon as I switched to HDMI, the monitor ran perfectly again.

/g/ is NOT your personal tech support team or personal consumer review site.

My question is not asking for tech support nor is it asking for reviews.

I learned to live with it because there is almost zero documentation or warning saying
>Hey some DP cables aren't to spec and will completely fuck your system up
I didn't think to swap out for a DVI until finally someone came out and said out of spec cables exist.

That anime was fucking trash.

At least tsumugi was cute
I dunno. I can't turn my monitor off because if I do my shitty NoVideo card stops transmitting signal and I have to reboot my PC. Apparently it's a GPU BIOS problem or something. I know it's not the cable because I've tried 3 of them. So, in general, no I don't think so OP.

If it's a gpu bios problem they will RMA it

No documented cases of that but constantly feeding 3.3v back into the GPU is hardly a good idea.
Fucking hell was it hard to find an mDP to DP cable that was VESA certified. I ended up shipping one from the states (to Australia). With a non certified cable I got all sorts of issues. Notably if you turned on/off a light anywhere in the house the display would go black for a few seconds.

Actually looking into it more it seems like it's a Windows issue and how it disconnects hotplug devices.
