Wait, If I create a .php file which contains the username and password of a mysql databas and then put that same file on a webserver, users accessing that file in their web browser won't be able to see that login data? So all they can see is stuff I ECHO at them?
guys? :(
GUUUUYSS
Yes, they wont be able to see the source code unless you echo it.

Jesus christ, I spend so many hours trying to encrypt and secure the login data to keep it hidden from my traffic and now I find out about this.
I am truly retarted.

securing your login data is always good

I think i read something about putting the db password to some http-server config file or something for added security, but it's not needed.

I think this anon is onto something. I'm not sure if it's a good practice to include valuable info in php files. In case you do thi, at least separate the backend and frontend php files and just include the backend one in the frontend one using include or require. Also use POST requests when sending info to the server and hash your user passwords.
