Set up a VPN to encode all pictures and videos that your browser asks. Most of 4chan pictures are between 500kb and 4mb cause nobody convert pictures, but you can get readable pics for 50kb, it should be easy for pictures, I don't know for videos

This way you can do it, even if it'll be slower, average encoding time for that quest on a pentium is 1sec

are you using freedompop or something? you can refer people to get 500mb bonus data for up to 700mb per month, there's a referal thread on slickdeals where people add each other to get the bonus

Used sparsely, yes I think so. I've gotten by with moderate use on 150mb, but that was browsing text heavy boards and threads.

This was a couple of years ago, but I used to browse 4chan on a laptop tethered (via Bluetooth) to an old Nokia 6300 with a 1GB packet data plan. This was at work - I had my main work PC connected to the work network so going on 4chan on it would be a big no-no (it was blocked anyway), and then I had a (officially off-line) MacBook provided by work also because my position required doing some layouts for company materials and shit. I would have preferred to just do it on one machine, but obviously some higher-up fell for the meme "all graphic designers use Macs" so they bought it for me. It pretty much became my handy fuck off machine when there was nothing to do on the main one (which was a lot of the time). But I digress.

Anyway, each month of browsing 4chan (at least a good 4 hours a day 5 days a week) on full-size Firefox on the Mac and with images on would come up to 800-900 MB. That's with occasional posting too (though not uploading images) and viewing some full-size images, just making sure they were not larger than 1 MB or so. I viewed some other sites too, but very rarely. FYI 4chan thumbnails are about 2-3 kB each, as other posters said you should probably be more concerned about the index page size if you keep refreshing (but there is some level of on-the-fly compression for that too though).

The only time I went over the data limit was the first month because I missed turning off some auto-update option in OS X and the bloody thing downloaded 600 MB of iTunes update or some other shit in the background. Though I gotta hand it to the Mac that tethering it to my shitty old phone JUST WERKED and it did flawlessly in a few clicks, honestly when trying it the first time I didn't even think it would be possible.

tl;dr you should be just fine without images and especially when using Clover, remember to turn off auto-updates in whatever OS you're using.
