Post yfw for that feeling.

x86 is dead on linux.
>linus haven't fixed the 2k38 bug
>meanwhile smug engineers at BSD already had it working
If you're using x86-only chips, install BSD now
>>60867592
x86 is going to outlast your miserable life

Damn, that's a funny comic.

x86 is far from dying, one solid proof is that it's being emulated by other architectures instead of improving their own architectures
As much as I hate x86 and all the other CISC-y architectures, it pains me to say x86 is not going to die anytime soon. Not until some other architecture comes with a silicon implementation that could justify the cost of porting their software to the newer architecture. In short a new CPU that fucking wrecks everything in the performance per watt graph

>porting their software to the newer architecture
How much software made since the end of the 90s have been made in ASM?
>>60867592
Unless it happens tomorrow, I doubt it.
>>60867592
Every time Intel comes close to killing x86, AMD shows up and saves it.

Send me your C compiler that will compile shit to work on my brand new chipset that I'm designing.
