Are Jumboframes on 1GbE BS?
>>60860690
jumpgrams are anywhere with ipv6 and an mtu of over ~1500. I'd have to look up the exact number. It doesn't matter, you shouldn't need them. Whatever host you send a jumpgram to will probably need to fragment it to send it past the next link anyways
>>60860690
No, but your ISP doesn't support it anyway, so it's only going to benefit you for local file transfers.
>>60860690
No, they are not BS. It's a pretty simple common sense thing to allow and use, same as HDD block sizes got bigger with the much bigger drives and so on.
But as >>60860940 indicated, most ISPs will not support them.
>>60860690
Yes and it has to be the same across every piece of equipment so it's more effort and potentially more harm than it is good.

Its for a server I have running that serves large video files for editing stations.
Should I enable it at 9000?
>>60860940
And even then not all devices play nice with it
>>60860690
You run a home file server without them?
>>60862812
If you can configure all the NICs and shit inbetween to play nice with such, go right ahead, it can significantly help file transfers.

It’s for work. Editing.

There’s multiple machines connected via a single cisco switch. Some are iMacs some are windows.
It seems when I enable it it works nice for a bit then troublesome and people complain it’s gotten slower. So I just leave It disabled.
