Use linux on a laptop. A Chromebook with long battery will do. A veyron is compatible with libreboot and easy to install and is only for a 100 bucks. Use sip or xmpp for communications. Buy a USB wan modem for data. If you really need phone and SMS service some chink USB modems have that function (you simply pop in your sim card) but it usually will only work with the no free software that come with it.
