I can relate to him. I'm currently writing two image formats in x64 Linux assembly because farbfeld is not exactly what I want. I will do syscalls directly so I won't need to link to anything, it's going to be very neat.

The first one I call rgba8. It has a one byte header (width) and height can be deduced from file size (can't be more than 256).

The second one I call xywhrgba8. It doesn't even have a header. It's an array of colored rectangles.
