Don't knock it until you've tried it. 3D touch is almost always used alongside regular tap and tap-hold with different functionality to either. For example, if you're browsing the web and see a link, you can tap to open it, tap-hold to bring up a contextual menu with other opening/sharing options, or 3D touch it to pop it up in a small preview window, where the harder you press the larger it gets, and if you want to view it in full you can push harder and it pops fullscreen, or you can let go and it'll disappear, or you can move your finger up to bring up another contextual menu.
