Was a kickstarter scam about an engine which could somehow store an infinite amount of voxels in memory and then render a portion of it in realtime.
>>

https://www.linkedin.com/in/slgonzalez
>>
>>60845439
The trick is you don't store infinite voxels in memory. You store only what is displayed or is about to be displayed in memory. Smealum did this when he implemented Minecraft on the DS, which has tiny memory.

>Also still waiting on that stupid unlimited voxel shit.

they never showed the engine with dynamic lighting or literally any other technology that is suited for gaming and people were surprised when game companies weren't falling over themselves trying to buy it

their target market has always been 3d mapping of real historic environments for preservation or similar purposes, it was evident in the very early videos and they were pushing that market segment *hard* in the more recent videos, and no surprise checking their wikipedia that they've moved into the 3d holographic area

Yes, a good university will 99 times out of a 100 make you better than if you go it alone because of many obvious factors. In Germany, I'm not sure you even accrue debt from university because it is free? so there is no reason not to go if you're truly passionate about whatever.

Of course, those who practice in their spare time at university will be better than those that don't. University won't magically make you better, it still requires hard work.

Autodidacts have extreme dedication, so they keep learning. Most people who go to uni don't really want to study, so they pick up just enough to graduate. Then they stop learning.

Sort of like Broly vs an android. Once the android is assembled, its power level remains the same. But Broly's is always increasing. Of course then there's someone like Goku who has the dedication of an auto-didact but still goes to uni so in the end he's the best. But those people are very rare.

To be fair, similar techniques have been used in the past to get graphics quality much better than conventional rasterization techniques for the given technology.

Blade Runner game for example.

Voxels are also used for CT scans and other 3D imaging where an arbitrary amount of 3D detail needs to be stored, processed, rendered, and manipulated.

The core concept is solid, but it really wasn't something new. It's just been relatively impractical due to the ridiculous storage space required.

The most realistic way of doing it, honestly, would be to stream voxel data from a server to a client on demand, but that'd make the game practically unplayable for Australians (and Americans with the way our internet is going).

No.

University is just a prof preaching in front of the class and the class repeating what he says without thinking.

Then you get students in their 3rd year that cant do even the very basics of programming learned in the 1st year and lacking any ability to find a solution for a problem on their own.

This is even worse in germany as education here is mostly written standard tests on paper and barely any work on your won.

There is nothing wrong with that. Any white person who voted for the GOP last election cycle need to be kept far away from the polls next year and in 2020. They lost their voting privilege by making such a huge blunder in 2016. They abused their right to vote, and now that right needs to be confiscated from them before they cause any more harm to this country. We are already suffering under Trump in ways we can not recover from.

You're not making your point sound anymore intelligent. You can't abuse a right, regardless of how you vote. Hence, discriminating against any voter for anything other than legal status and whether they went to prison or not is an abuse of the 1st Amendment, since voting is a form of free expression, just like discriminating against someone's skin color from voting is an abuse of the 1st Amendment.

Jesus, I remember a time when the left was opposed to evangelical retards, yet here they are acting like them. It's funny tbqh.

I've had dreams about code once or twice when working on an assignment late or something and they were fucking horrible. i worked with an aerospace engineer and he said this thing is amazing. i had him try to explain to me why. i think it has to do with the air more completely contacting the heatsink and also more completely being cycled through. like, in a traditional heatsink, there are many air-dead spots from turbulence and the like, so only a small portion of the heatsink is actually transferring heat to fresh incomng air and properly expelling it. i could have misinterpreted his explanation, but thats the best i can do right now
>>
>>60856838

I don't think it's that incredible. It might be right for the right application, maybe. You can achieve a lot more from a heat sink using exotic materials for heat transfer. I have a theory that using high Reynolds (rough surface) copper and/or rippled fins would increase surface drag and therefore increase the heat transfer to the air. I also think liquid cooling and even submerged computing (mineral oil or propylene glycol iirc) is far superior in terms of BTU/dollar.
>>
>>60856793

There absolutely are geniuses LOL. It's like you don't even know about people like Ramanujan. "Genius" is just a classification above some value of intelligence.

a regular heatsink with a fan on top will have a deadzone right in the middle, which sucks because that's exactly where the cpu is located.

however, the better solution to that is to have a vertical heatsink rather than one that spins.

Were you alive for that?
Do you remember not being allowed to vote?
Sit the fuck down.
Or better yet, how about from now on anytime someones father commits a felony we put him and his children in jail.
I mean They're much closer related to each other than just skin tone, its direct lineage!

I heard he got cucked by his master's thesis advisor.

i mean the air going over the metal fins does not make 100% contact. it hits and bounces off, has turbulence, dead spots, vortices, etc.
>>
>>60847373

they are probably going to test it is space if they have not already but its likely bullshit. Supposedly the heat difference from the two walls might be enough to cause it.

He's a white male. He'll never get a job in the programming industry.
>>
>>60857539
Oh I absolutely agree. However if we're not speaking strictly engineering and theory, it's still good enough. Throttle limiting is primarily an issue in devices that are too thin and small to have the original metal fan above. Granted, if they have a solid breakthrough then all the more to them.

>bounces off and has turbulence

I actually think that's a good thing. as long as the air is being forced past the cooling fins, you want surface drag and a decent amount of turbulence. Otherwise a boundary layer would form (the "dead air" layer).

please leave and take your 3 months of life experience reading about computers on google with you

thats just it. conventional heatsinks have huge boundary layers

>He's a white male.
maybe he's considered white in a country full of mongrels like the US.
>>
>>60856793
Bullshit. You can lead a camel to water but you can't make him drink.

I agree that most geniuses would have been unsuccessful if they were born into different conditions.

For example, Bach was born into a musical family and spent his childhood reading as much music as he could find, and studying with other great musicians. If he was born to rural farmers I doubt he would have achieved as much as he did.

The opposite is not true, though. If you shower wealth on someone they're actually less likely to turn out successful because wealth makes people lazy

You know, labeling everyone you disagree with as a [SCARY, UNDESIRABLE PROPAGANDA TERM] and using violence to suppress them is actually what the Nazis did, right?

>what is the bell curve the post
>>
>>60845434
They use point clouds, not voxels.
>>
>>60857675

Only really with laminar flow though, is the point. There are many ways to make turbulent flow designs, but the metal fan heat sink design has many drawbacks for potentially not that much efficiency increase.

Hell, it's probably not even worth the re tooling cost to make high roughness and/or non flat fins most applications.

Sit through a couple hours lectures and workshops about binary and you will dream in code also.

Shit is annoying.

>there's air around the fins
>lets spin the fins around
>see it works by coasting on a layer of air between it and the CPU

Not only do I not believe it works, I would continue to believe it doesn't work until someone proved it both mathematically and in practice. There's no fucking way having the main point of contact between the aluminum heatsink and the CPU IHS be AIR is better than the traditional method.

ace your math classes and learn an easy language like C#.

Dont listen to snarky faggots here. If youre se riou s aabout compsci, youll realize its mostly math when you go deeper.

Actually point clouds are quite OK for that. But it's not enough.
>>
>>60853667
This is such a fucking meme - there are fuck all small projects floating around on github in racket, which is an indication no one is actually applying their racket / SICP knowledge at all.

Far better to learn a language that the guy can build small projects in to further his skills.

thanks this is a /g/ood thread

was wondering what happened to that... there must of been some caveat emporer in the maths or else it would be everywhere now with the need for cooling your asic miners and 120+ thread xeons....
