It's cabled into a HDMI in the roof, which channels down to just behind my computer. So I run it as a 7th monitor. Quality is very very good.

E10k is overpriced chink shit. FiiO makes a decent DAP (X1) but everything else they poop out is awful. For the price you could get a nice PCIe sound card, and if you still need an amp after that, build a CMOY for $5. In all reality, if your device has high enough of a noise ceiling that you need an external DAC, you should just be replacing that device.

The absolute cheapest way to get into the hobby is to spend $15 on a little 'toy' quad with a crappy little controller which you can fly around your house. Don't underestimate how much fun this can be!

If it's specifically racing/FPV that you're interested in, you should then buy a half decent radio ('controller') with a USB port which will let you get the hang of the controls in a simulator. For FPV flying you don't use auto-level, which makes the controls feel completely different to that little toy quad linked above & it's a lot easier to learn in a simulator where you can reset immediately after a crash rather than having to spend hours repairing an actual quad after every 10 seconds of flying. The Turnigy Evolution is a good choice here, or the Taranis QX7 for a little more money.

Once you feel confident enough, you can think about buying/building a proper 5" outdoor racing/freestyle quad, which can be done for ~$100 plus another ~$100 for the other parts you'll need (batteries, charger, goggles). I recommended the UAVFutures channel to somebody on /g/ before & a couple months later he found me in a RC generals thread on /diy/ & let me know how much fun he'd been having;

Hey Redmaus yeh the metal case 4704 boards are defiitely worth it. They feel entirely different to an xt or at but have a hell of a lot more ringing in the springs which is why I floss modded mine. Plus its the closest to normal 103 key ANSI you can get.

Its a Samsung C24FG70 I got in a sale for £220. A 24 inch curved 144hz freesync 1ms 1080p VA monitor. Its has excellent reds vs that 27 inch viewsonic TN monitor.

Playing Redout on it looks and plays so smooth and colourful and fantastic. Its a real joy.
It does suffer from some minor purple after imaging in certain situations, though its not as bad now in the later models. (like a few purple pixels in the menu when I select something and it greys out a bit behind the confirmation window sort of business)

Yeah, the colours don't really work at all, I have been meaning to paint the room but that can get pretty expensive because the actual basement is pretty big. (pano attached.) The tables where also free from a school that was getting rid of them, so I am not complaining about that.

The room is also a basement, so natural light is tricky :(

You don't need an SSD, it makes a noticeable difference but it really doesn't add any performance besides on startup and moving (not downloading) files
I have had an SSD only system and it's really not worth the price you pay until you are performing specific tasks or trying to start up fast to get back into your game of CSGO before you get banned.

Also, consider buying a USB or 3.5mm cable extension, then you can watch movies from your bed for $5

Basically, the frequency (GHz, MHz, Hz) that the CPU runs at isn't the only thing that decides it's speed.
If you don't know what to look for, just look up some bechmarks ("R7 1700 vs r5 1600 csgo" or whatever games you're interested in.

As for the rx580, as I said, if you can find it for the real price, buy it. If not, consider an RX 480, r9 Fury, gtx 1060, 1070, or something else. I recently bought an r9 fury x still in original packaging from a guy on eBay for $220, and it performs about the same as the rx480 / 1060, but it was $500 new
So look around for deals too

That's actually a snowmobile helmet, I use to to go on my local race track because convertibles require them. They're adamant about it but don't check if you have roll bar extension so you'd just end up breaking your neck if you roll over

This will last you at least 4 years as a capable machine, very good and no extra spending on shit you don't need (speakers, SSD, $50 more expensive 1070, $30 more expensive monitor (I have the AOC and a high end sRGB panel, and the AOC looks good enough +144hz)) plus you are getting even more storage than with the 1TB HDD, it's a very capable machine. Will run any game on very high settings above 60fps, any competitive game above 150fps. You can spend extra money if you feel like you need to, but monitors have built in speakers and you have nice headphones (I assume) that you can just extend to your bed.
