It's a meme I'm interested in falling for, but unless I can split it into 2 separate screens, I'll have to pass. I need my multitasking.

You know what my problem with dual screens is? You can't truly use both while playing a game unless the game is in windowed mode. Every time without fail the game will always minimize when I switch to the other screen.

it's the opposite. they're just 16:9 4k panels that had unusable sections so they cut the top or bottom off then sell them to suckers like you. open one up some time and take a look at the top or bottom edge of the panel and you'll probably even be able to see the marks left by the laser.

4k is a meme for monitors
maybe you're one of those retards that sits in front of their 50" TVs
34" 21:9 1440p is the sweet spot
>>
>>60832260
>3840 X 1080
So this is what happens to their 4k TV's when they get a cluster of dead pixels on one side.
>>
>>60833176
lol wot m8
high res is great for reading text comfortably
I'm sitting 70cm in front of 1440p 27" 16:9
and can clearly see the pixel stepping on diagonal lines
I'd say there will be noticeable improvements until at least 8k on 27"
especially when reading black text on a white background
>>
>>60833358
because you're pretending to have some retarded eyesight you think 27 inch monitors must be 4k/8k?
lol ok
>>
>>60833485
they don't must be 4k+
reading on them just gets easier on your eyes with higher dpi
which makes them better
just print out some text and hold it next to your monitor displaying the same font at the same size
the print version is much sharper and comfier to read
on the other hand there are no downsides to higher resolutions unless your OS is stuck in the past and can't handle scaling
>>
>>60833544
just buy an mac with retina display then
21,5 inch 4096x2304

It's a meme made to make more money off gullible gaymurs, by selling them smaller screens with less pixels.

29" 2560x1080 ultrawide < 27" 2560x1440
34" ultrawide < 40" 4k

16:9 is cheaper for more pixels and bigger sizes. And there is no reason to get a 21:9 unless you are just watching movies.

Does "screen partitioning" software exist?

If I were to own one gigantic LONG monitor, I'd like to divvy it up into effectively three monitors. When I maximize a program, I don't want it to take up my entire screen, I want it to only fill up the 1/3 of the screen I've setup.

>a giant 16:9 monitor in front of you feels like a TV
True (still awesome for gaming though; saw a guy bring something like that to a lan). But this...
>a multimonitor setup fused together
is not. A 21:9 is too narrow to treat it like a dual monitor setup. I always end up squishing one window to the side, or having two windows half-and-half but both awkwardly narrow -- because everything is meant for 16:9.
>>
>>60840683

As far as I'm aware, DisplayFusion doesn't do any single-display screen partitioning or tiling, and AquaSnap seems to be limited to just sides and corners, which is really just an enhancement over what Win7+ already provides, but won't let you split your screen into thirds.

Well then, I stand corrected. Been many years since I last used it. Looks like it actually simulates separate monitors, too, so maximize only fills the "screen" it's in (I'd imagine there's a way to maximize to the whole screen though). DF seems like it's probably the best solution here.
