Capacity has been roughly doubling every two years. We will probably see consumer 10TB drives in 4 years, and it will be below $500 in another 4.

How does the price of anything used mean anything? I'm sure I can find people who will pay to have me remove old floppies from their storage, does that mean HDDs are a fad because floppies achieve negative $/TB?

10 years ago, you paid $300 for a 32GB SSD. Now you pay $300 for a 1TB SSD. SSD prices are falling faster than HDDs, but HDDs had a couple of decades of a head start.
