Can we get a thread on video editing software please?
I used to use adobe premier but don't have access to it any more. Wanting to do basic bitch video editing for youtube but don't want to spend a fortune.
What open source options is there for video editing these days?

I haven't used all of them but:
Basic (WMM grade retrogarbage): Pitivi (NLE), Shotcut, Avidemux
Intermediate (think something like Sony Vegas or Premiere): Kdenlive (NLE), Openshot (NLE), Flowblade (NLE), Cinelerra (NLE)
Advanced (probably requires a lot of configuration though): Blender, Natron (kind of like Nuke+AfterEffects)
Blender is pretty good but requires a fuck ton of plugins and experience to be powerful however, when it's properly configured it's mighty good. Natron is mostly for post-production after the editing is done and it's almost on par with noncommerical node editors and can make shit look pretty good.
For most users, Kdenlive is the most stable of the bunch but it can be uncomfortable to those who don't want to install 400 KDE dependencies. Pitivi is GTK based but it's a lot more basic. The others aren't that stable so ymmv, both Cinelerra and OpenShot crashed on me out of the gate (thankfully didn't have a big project loaded up). These are also Linux based, I just use Premiere Pro + Nuke (used to use Aftereffects) on Winshit.
I'm no expert, but I believe Openshot and Kdenlive are currently the two most developed FOSS video editors.
Why using something else? And why are you paying it?
Adobe suite is the best choice and easily piratable

Easily piratable sure but not everyone has access to a private tracker and don't fancy bitcoin mining for some Russian asshole

Why can't all those OS programs work great out of the box? GIMP has the same problem - out of the box it's pretty shit but install some plugins and it starts to kick ass. Can't they just incorporate/bundle it together?

Private tracker? I've downloaded the entire suite on the pirate bay, everything works
Surely better than others free shit.. just compare LIghtroom and Darktable

Which will undoubtly have a bitcon miner built into it

Windows has tons of built in shit, i don't give a fuck of a bitcoin miner if everything works great

I don't know how you could be this retarded and have a PC functional enough to post on an image board.

Windows Just Werks™
