does an external HDD get slower if I put more stuff on it? I

does an external HDD get slower if I put more stuff on it? I have about 20gig on a 1 terabyte HDD, but I need to access those files daily. Will that get slowed by putting another 250gig or so of files on the HDD?

any hd takes longer to access files when there is more data on it.

but its not like its dropping from a 7200rpm to 5400rpm because its full.
