Perl6 and /g/

Perl is a fun language fun, but it's also a scripting language like Python.

I would suggest you learn something like C. Don't listen to /g/, learning C is a lot of fun and you can get the basics in a short time.

Other options would be Haskell or LISP, also great input that will make you a better programmer..
