I own it. It's not.

I have the low-power T version in my NAS.
I still have a Core i7 3770k. Granted it's overclocked to 4.5 GHz and I have a shitton of RAM, but the only real bottleneck I ever seem to run into is the GPU, which I will probably replace this year. There's obviously no such thing as a future-proof PC but when it comes to CPUs you do not need the latest and greatest for gaming and creativity software.

when my computer comes back from the shop how much will I have fucked up?
The Celeron G550 and its Assrock Mobo died after the 1050 Zotac Mini I bought succ'd it to death so I got an i3 4170 to replace it. Will it be decent enough for a couple of years at 768p and possibly
(1600)1200p down the line?

I use 6100 and it offers more than enough performance
Most demanding game I play is Space Engineers and the game only really utilizies one core. The i3 6100 was perfect at the time I assembled my current gaymen pc, though I wish I had known about the i5 6400t processors you can get sort of cheap on ebay.
