Remember the X does not come with a fan. If you want to mess around with OCing get the non X and overclock it. Personally I would get a X cause I dont got time to fuck around with settings.

The real deal is the ryzen 1700 for 300 bucks. I would just pony up the extra cash, which isn't much, and you'll be set for good long time. 1600 is great but 1700 is more bang for the buck

Yes the 1600 is literally less I'm cost but the 1700 is way cheaper for what you get. With the 1700 you get 2 more cores. With 8 cores your future proofed for a long time. And you'd be surprised how many things use 8 cores today.

my 3570k was stock clocks with stock cooler.
i ocd the 1600 though to 3.8ghz without even needing to raise voltage. using the stock cooler that came with it and when under 100% load it never hits more than 65°C.
so far its performing a lot better than the 3570k.
at first id assume theyd be on par with the 1600 better in multithreaded workloads due to 8 more threads compared to the 3570k. even at stock clocks it outperformes the i5 though. so you only gain more performance.
im using 3000mhz ram with my 1600. depending on your motherboard you want to get as high ram as possible.
ryzen speed scales with ram. and it shows its really noticeable. theres also an option that i forgot its name of in your motherboard that can net you up to 200mhz extra speed at no cost depending on if your ram supports it. i choose corsair vengeance lpx ram since it does.
i did have to however run a biosupdate to run my ram at its 3000mhz because the old bios only went up to 2400mhz. now it supports up to 4800mhz(theoretically). i may fiddle with overclocking my ram to 3200mhz but only if i really need to. performance now in games and applications is amazing.
