And if so what is the cutoff?
I am very judgmental towards people who use computers daily but cant touch type
>>60808779
Typing skills are for secretaries, so no.
Yes. I don't take anybody with less then 90 WPM seriously. Over the year's I've learned 90 is the threshold.
Your WPM is your IQ.
What site is that OP?

>open up 10fastfingers, ask them to try it, and assure them that their score will not negatively impact the interview
>fucking THIRTY (30) WPM
needless to say he did not get hired. how the fuck do you expect to get a job writing code when you type so fucking slowly? even my mother types 100+ wpm...
>corporate drones are so empty inside they brag about how fast they can tap their fingers
No. One of the smartest guys I know types with only two fingers.
And desu my WPM is like 77, not very high.
>>60808903
>77
Just kill yourself while you're ahead of your grandparents
>>60808864
writing code isn't typing though, obviously he's lacking in experience but it's not related at all. typing faster than you think while coding is a death sentence anyway.
>>60808864
>t.secretary
if you can't type at least 100 wpm then i don't want anything to do with you
>75 wpm
Typelets, when will they ever learn?
>>60808929
if you can't type over 80wpm you simply haven't spent enough time on a computer
>>60808942
my mom is a secretary actually lol. I learned by using the mavis beacon teaches typing software when I was in the 6th grade.
>>60809003
right, but even computer time has nothing to do with programming. Yes, he'll be a complete pleb, but he might write beautiful efficient code. Can do that with pencil and paper.
Has this ever been topped?
>>60808779
>no caps
>no numbers
>no special characters
Nice test, friendo. I bet you take internet IQ tests as well.
>>60809003
I've been using computers since a very young age and still can't break 70. Nothing seems to improve this score.
>>60809078
what test is this?
bad
>>60809095
The same one as OP but not edited.

how does this test figure out wpm? 65 words in a minute is not 81 wpm
>>60809173
I linked it you fucking retarded piece of shit
>>60809176
I have no idea, that's a good question. I can tell you that I've always typed 120~ wpm up to 140wpm if I want to feel it and make shitloads of mistakes. Whatever their measurement it's pretty accurate, just retarded.
>>60809154
>posting ancient images and claiming they're yours
Fucking kill yourself
>>60809188
I can clearly see that, but I'm refuting your greentext
my top speed is around 120 wpm, but not as consistent as 100 wpm
>>60809173
>literally posted a link to the page
FUCK SUMMER
>>60809176
Average word is 4-5 letters for wpm isnt it?
That test has some long words.
I don't touch type the proper way, matter of fact I chicken peck using my index finger primarily while using my middle and ring fingers only occasional to hit a few things every once in awhile on autopilot. I don't have to look at the keyboard to type though, I pretty much understand what I'm doing. I typo once every thirtieth word or so, but I notice instantly ad nail the backspace button in a flash when it happens.
I'm decently fast though because I'm extremely practiced and familiar with my keyboard. Nothing to brag about, but pretty impressive considering my utter lack of proper technique, in my opinion.
>>60809222
>trips
>that wpm
Jesus fucking Christ
>>60809247
>I typo once every thirtieth word or so, but I notice instantly ad nail the backspace button in a flash when it happens.
>ad
Fuck.
I judge people who use the computer everyday and cant touch type, anything over 50 is fine.
english isn't even my first language (make more mistakes)
>>60809274
They were simple words, however.
>>60809212
i just did that one, just cropped it out. 121wpm is not impressive. buncha phoneposters btfo though.
>>60809300
>most recent 26wpm
most entertaining part of these scores
>>60808779
ppshhh
my wpm is 639, kid
>>60808929
Unless it's an Indian tier job 80% of time programming is spent thinking
as a native speaker of a romance language, I feel like we get more vowels, which makes typing easier, as well as double S and double R
common english words that appear in the test like "through" / "though" / "thought" for instance are difficult to blast through
>>60809247
I do kinda the same thing as you. It's considered chicken pecking by most people but I use both hands plus other fingers for keys that my index fingers take time to get to, i.e z, x, n, m, etc. It's a weird mix between hunt n peck & the correct way I think
>>60808779
Yes. It shows their experience doing actual work on a computer. While programming, you do not think as you type, so the whole "muh typing faster than u think" argument is dumb. I think of a solution, then use my insanely high WPM to just dump it onto the page in half a second.
>>60808817
90wpm is pretty grammy-tier. I don't trust anyone who isn't at least 100wpm.
>>60809375
>>60808817
>elitist groups trying to constantly out-elite each other pop up about fucking wpm speed on /g/
i shouldn't be surprised at this point. kill yourselves
>>60809375
most of it's just boilerplate macros and shit anyway, typing fast is only good for non-programming stuff. Doesn't hurt though.
Anything under 100 wpm is basically autistic.
>>60809421
Don't you mean over?
>>60808832
So anything below 100 is troglodyte tier.
>>60809222
>>60809154
The fact that people think these normal-tier scores are fake or god-tier makes me crack up.
Pic related is my lowest score of the day.
I've been able to touch type since I was in primary school yet I can only get 75WPM. What's wrong with me?
>>60809460
Half the posters in this thread assume everyone is typing from their phones.
>>60808779
>Get hired as support tech
>A deaf guy in my office has the same job and is on the computer all day long
>Look over one day
>He's using just his index fingers to 2 finger type
>He's going like 20-30wpm
I mean shit nigga you learned to talk with your hands before your mouth and you're two fingers typing? You got a fucking computer desk job for years and you haven't figured out how to use at least 4 fingers at the same time?
>>60808864
so you were not looking for a developer, you were looking for a code monkey that gets all thinking about algorithms/architecture done by other person (analytic) and just rewrite from diagrams and english into program language.
I type with 3 fingers in my left hand and 2 on my right. Still manage to get over 100wpm.
>>60809463
i dunno, i cheated at mavis beacon in school. played the old typey adventure games though, take too long and get killed.
>>60809512
>not typing with 10 fingers
>all these fuckers claiming that typing speed has nothing to do with programming
Fucking lel you shits are outing yourselves as the web developer fuckwits you are
80+ wpm is considered normal for a programmer
>>60809543
>web developer fuckwits
>not needing WPM even more than usual
Every time there's one of these threads there's a bunch of faggots like >>60808960 who think they've accomplished something. Typing fast is possibly the least impressive skill on the planet, and thrills nobody ever.
If you can do 60 you're fine. The only time anyone that isn't a tard would even notice is if you've just never seen a keyboard before.
>>60809444
Nearly 50% of people are between 70-100. That's how a normal distribution works.
>>60809247
I didn't know how to touch type until after high school, and I would highly recommend learning it. I'm a bit faster than I was, but the payoff is in how less often you'll make mistakes, probably. Or just do what you like. THat's cool
keybr.com is great.
>>60809443
Nope.
>>60809588
You're not using the autistic meme correctly them
anything under 100 is normie tier
>>60809584
This man got annoyed.
>>60808864
Admittedly 30 wpm is pretty senior citizen tier shit but honestly would you rather someone who writes @ 100WPM but comes up with solutions that are 10x longer and harder to read or someone with 50WPM that has shorter, easier to read code.
The correct answer is painfully obvious.
>>60809624
Someone with 100WPM and shorter, easier to read code.
>>60809691
40 WPM on my phone.
>>60809801
>>60809529
>not having so bad pains in some of your fingers that you cannot use them
bleb come back you start actually typing more than tweets.
>>60809807
kill yourself
I have zero formal training as a typist. If you work with computers and you can't type faster than me, then there is something wrong with you.
>>60809300
Just went again with some effort, still shitting on everyone here. 131 is too fast though. Fucked up one word and had to do it over almost completely.
Anything below 80 on thi is brainlet tier (except if english isn't your first language).
Here's my first attempt that didn't have any errors (I did have to backsp
ace to correct something once)
>>60809933
>most recent score: 26 wpm
hmmm
>>60809863
u mad?
I range from 110 to 135 depending on the day.
I don't care if normie friends type 50 - 60 WPM, but I have a programmer friend who can barely hit 90 and I heckle him relentlessly.
Anything below 50 is pathetic even for normies.
>>60809269
What if mine is a mix of touch typing and hunt and peck just slightly over 50 wpm? Am I fine in your book sempai?
