I'm coming from the standard Moto G4, but because I don't want to carry 2 phones, I was thinking of upgrading to the G4+, I'm open to options though.

The H10le is 399 euro, pre-ordered. I think the reason for their prices is that they're fairly new and still small. I believe they're Croatian (?) but not entirely certain.

Which phone is likely to be better? I am incredibly reluctant about the G6 due to the bootloop. The S8 is super pretty but i don't like all the bloat and is also quite a bit more expensive than the 2 listed. HTC U11 is one of the ugliest phones i have ever seen. What other options do i have?

As a general rule (but iphones seem to be exception), used android phones depreciate by half each year. So used phone from 2014 should cost 1/5 of original price, ie if it costs $250 originally, 50 bucks should cover it now.

I have verizon and I'm looking to upgrade my phone. I have a galaxy S7 right now but the battery is starting to lose it's charge quicker and my games are stuttering. With the upgrade plan, price isn't a problem but I'm not really sure what my options are outside of ishit and android. Biggest problems I have with the S7 are video stutter when running apps fullscreen, notifications also semi-freeze the screen with other apps open when they pop up. Also not sure if it's an S7/samsung problem or android in general but if I don't system update, it reminds me every day until I do it and if I haven't updated in around 2 weeks it disables my fast charge until I do. I also have no way to disable the notifications, so it's always pinned to the home screen.

I've used an iphone in the past but with it's constant sign-in, sign-up, use this shit app to play gifs, not being compatible with certain apps, etc. it was just all around annoying. Though at the same time every other app on android wants you to sign in with google which I currently have to work around to not use on my S7. I want something with better hardware than what I got but allows me to cutomize freely without having to sell my info to google or apple. I'm currently looking through phones online but what should I look out for/avoid?
>>
>>60799477
I've had this phone since it launched in April 2014 so I think it's time to get a new phone.
>>
>>60799418
In my research, the V20 is more multimedia focused phone so it has photo and video going for it over the G6 except for the wide angle camera, thats the only thing the G6 has going for it.
The G6 is better all around besides that.
I'm sort of leaning towards the V20 myself but I want to make sure theres nothing else to consider besides the two going from a G4.

No xposed on Nougat
Your setup will trash Lineage at this point because of that, but without that consideration, lineage is better on 64 bit hardware. 32 bit is a tossup, depends on the processor and device.
>>
>>60801062
>No xposed on Nougat
I know, that's the reason I'm not certain which I should use.

Any opinions on Moto X Pure (2015)?

Me personally, I'm fucking SICK of this phone. Thing is though, the hardware's not even really outdated yet, but Moto's been jerking us around holding this imaginary Nougat update over our heads since last fucking year. They're saying now it should come late June or early July, but honestly who knows.

I'm at my wit's end with this thing, but I don't really want to upgrade yet...should I just stick it out for another month until the Nougat OTA comes out?
>>
>>60801097
410 is 64 bit, iirc. Go with Lineage. The added benefits of Nougat are worth it IMO, and the anemic processor means great battery's other way
>>
>>60801728
Moto X play got it today, you probably don't have much longer to wait
>>
>>60801781
Just checked into it, looks like it's based on the Cortex A53 which is 64, so Lineage it is. (Or still is - I just put Lineage on it today but had CM13 downloaded too) Thanks for the info regarding how the two ROM's handles the different architecture, I didn't know Lineage is notably better with 64-bit.

>>60801728
Is being on M that much of a problem? I know the promise of an update that isn't arriving can be a bit frustrating but you make it sound like torture.
>>
>>60799152
6p has terrible battery life. About 5 hrs SOT. Which is a shame cause it's a pretty good phone otherwise

I tried to research how networks and carriers cover different bands and all, and I think this will work on 3g at&t, but I have seen conflicting info and the k10000pro isn't on willmyphonework.

Network:
2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz
3G: WCDMA 900/2100MHz
4G: FDD-LTE 800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz

can someone who knows their shit confirm? I'm about to pull the trigger on this.
>>
>>60801795
I know, which is why it's ridiculous that a phone that came out a month before the Pure is now getting the update before it. But yes I sure hope that means it's coming soon...
>>60801938
Well M isn't good enough for me as I like the new emojis, plus all the little stuff like removed paste delay, etc. aside from that I just like having the latest OS. The problem is I've been keeping the AICP nightly builds (based on Lineage) on it and since we don't have the official N drivers and stuff (is this what people mean when they say "blobs"?) snapchat is wonky, there's random crippling slowdowns, and everything is just less than desirable at times, it feels like an incomplete phone.

Which, I guess, it is. But damn I just can't believe it's June of 2017 and their flagship baby is still on 6.0.

hi so I'm still rocking a nearly 3 year old phone (Moto X 2014)
I unlocked the bootloader and threw Pure Nexus on it
it's starting to show its' age though, and I'd like an update
Obviously, the OnePlus 5 is one of the first few phones on my mind
problem is my CDMAids carrier (https://www.uscellular.com/) only allows "authorized/whitelisted" devices on to the network
I've been thinking of switching to a different abandoned flagship, the S5/kflte and throwing lineage or something on there - which has official support: https://download.lineageos.org/klteusc
Any other suggestions?
>>
>>60803451
I've thought about other cheaper options, like the V20, 5X/6P, but I heard they had the same issue - not network approved and bootloop problems
Maybe a G4? Motorola seems kinda dodgy, after Google sold them off to Lenovo their after-sale software support has been very so-so
>>

The Note 4 is still a pretty solid smartphone, isn't it?
I feel like upgrading "because it's about time to", but why should I really?
My Note 4 only lags behind in some cases in certain games. I can't think of anything else it underperforms significantly in compared to this year's flagships.

does anyone have a Zuk z2? Which screen protector did you go with? The cheapest glass one i bought on ebay does not conform to the display, so theres gaps all around the edge(which lint and crap has already managed to get in at, and make it look gross)

Does anyone know if there is a tempered glass cover that sits flush against it? And if it can be bought on Ebay or at a place that takes paypal?
>>
>>60811594
It's 3200mah vs 4070mah, but the difference isn't as big as it seems as the Mi5s has a smaller display so it uses less power. If battery life is your main concern I'd look at something like the Lenovo P2.

I'm the guy who just bought a Moto G5 Plus and I picked it because I had a Moto G1 and it worked great for 3.5 years with only a new battery once

I honestly didn't even consider the Xiaomi/ZTE/Huawei phones, they'd have to be much, much better than the Moto G at the same price for me to consider changing brands

Main reason is simply better availability and local support / warranty. Most countries don't have official sellers for Xiaomi phones so ordering from China is the only way to get one.

The Moto G5 Plus also has way better cameras. The Redmi series is known to have average to bad cameras.

Also for countries like the US chinkphones simply don't have the needed network bands

Blind brand loyalty when it's known that something else is better is stupid, sticking with something which makes durable products is what everybody used to do some time back.

>>60798602
In terms of durability? Probably the Nexus 5X. Shit started bootlooping 10 months into ownership. I just got it replaced on warranty and bought a Moto G4 Play instead.

Overall experience? LG Optimus L5 E610, which I got when I started university in 2012. It was laggy from the day I got it, the camera was lacklustre, battery life was awful, and it developed an issue with the charging port after only a year and a half or so. Almost made me switch to iOS, good thing a friend of mine with a Nexus 4 showed me how good Android could be. I would say the moral of the story is not to buy LG products, but the Nexus 4 was good.

RN4 will take at least 20 days to arrive so I'm buying a secondary phone. It will be used these 15 days daily and after that stored in case of emergencies.

I've narrowed to these options:

Moto G4 Play from amazon 139€, bare minimum specs, Amazon warranty, detachable battery (good for storage) fast shipping

Redmi 4A, again bare minimum, worse warranty, fast shipping from local Ali warehouse, 109€ 32 GB or 103 € 16 GB

If you aren't sure whether or not you need root, you probably don't need root.

The problem is that Samsung tends to have the best hardware, but the worst software. Most of the gripes you have seem to be about software, not hardware.

So you say you want better hardware, but that probably can't happen unless you get another Samsung, which won't solve your software problems. Plus, you're asking to upgrade a phone that's barely a year old, so you won't see a ton of benefit by upgrading anyway.

The Oneplus 3t and Pixel both have lightweight, customizable software. However, you can't buy the 3t through Verizon. If you want customizability, you might also consider the Moto Z line, which allow you to add hardware using "Moto mods". The Moto Z Play has a less powerful processor than the s7, but it has much much better battery life. The Moto Z or Moto Z Force have the same processor as the s7, but no headphone jack.

If you really want to run a phone without selling you data, you can install a custom ROM without google play services.

Best place to buy any note4x?

Is the Mali T720 any good?
I am just looking for a phone to use regular stuff and play only one game, "Shadowverse".

Could anyone tell me if it can run it without problems?

What's my best bet for battery >=3000mAh and HiFi audio for under 400€? Don't really care about the rest. Chinkphone is fine.

Dear /g/,

I am requesting purchasing advice. I feel lost.

Core needs:
> Smallish form factor, like the Z5 Compact. Width less than 70mm, preferably between 67mm and 69mm.
> 2 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, 4G, 4.5"-5" screen.
> A well-maintained non-stock ROM with minimal but working gapps, and fully working camera, bluetooth, voice calling etc.
> A battery that's not shit tier.
> Acceptable price/value.
> Need it in 2 weeks.

Location:
> Ireland, on Vodafone.
> Occassionally visiting the US.

Candidates, after checking the list of official LineageOS devices:
> Nexus 5: old, so used phones' battery are probably bad?
> Xiaomi Mi5: a bit big, and it's hard to get an international edition (the China edition has no 4G in the US), phones on Amazon and Ali look a bit scammy
> Sony Z3 Compact: good enough hardware, but the good non-stock ROMs are not maintained.
> Sony Z3 Compact and Z5 Compact: perfect hardware, but non-stock ROMs are buggy.
> Samsung A line: passable hardware, but custom ROMs are useless for a daily driver AFAIK
> Galaxy S7, Pixel, HTC One A9, OnePlus X: would work, but they are very expensive for what they offer

...HALP pls... What's your opinion?

Restore it with smart switch and don't install too many apps.

I'd go for the G4 play

I didn't want a video review anyway

Is there any chance that we'll get a cheaper Pixel phone this year? I don't need the best features, just stock Android with fast updates.

my nexus 5 died on me last week
is there a modern equivalent to it, i've heard the 5x and 6p have issues with boot-looping, but i've not really been keeping up with smartphones since i had my nexus 5 (2014)
i don't use my smartphone for anything besides messaging, dashchan, firefox and youtube but i'd like it to be as stock android as possible since i've seen the shit that touchwiz and whatever huawei's is called is
i'd buy a nexus 5 again but i can't find any new ones and it's outdated anyways
>>
>>60822394
pixel of course isn't a bad bet, but the price is prohibitive.
>>
>>60822394
5X is getting outdated, too. Buying a 2 years old phone is bad idea, even this phone (which gets support for a longer period of time than most phones) will be dropped soon. Besides, SD808 is terrible SoC, and SD810 in Nexus 6P is even worse.

Right now, there's little choice. Google Pixel is the most natural upgrade, but I'd wait for Pixel 2 release so the original Pixel gets much cheaper.

You can also take a look on Nokia phones, these are pretty much stock and promised with fast updates, but I don't know much about them, watch some reviews so you have an insight.

Avoid Motorola. Af first glance their phones may look stock, but they aren't. And since Lenovo acquired them, the updates got really slow, slower than Samsung actually.

Wtf besides Moto Display and a few gestures they leave it almost untouched

Seriously though, I was considering saving for the OP5 but the iPhone-clone aesthetic completely ruins it for me.

i guess i'll wait haha

Tons of unnecessary under-the-hood Motorola shit.
Also the fact that it took almost an entire year for them to update X Pure to Nougat "because of bugs and testing".

It looks stock. It isn't.

One plus one.... it died even before 2 years... Won't turn on. one plus refused to service. Just got S8+. Never again ChinkPhone....

Axon 7

Xperia X / X Compact? I'd say ZUK Z2 too but you probably can't get one in 2 weeks time.
>>
>>60822394
Motorola, Nokia and Oneplus are the manufacturers (other than Google ofc) with stock / near-stock android
>>
>>60819684
lookie here man I thought think they killed it originally they were going to implement it but it would create problems to implement on the shitton of devices they support.
>>
>>60822561
same. I'm keeping my nexus 5 till 2018. Fucking jews and their shitty phones...
On the flip side I expect the phones in 2018 to have about 3 times the normiebench scores for single thread performance so thats a nice gain, not some 15 % incremental
