i'm planing to buy a 1tb hdd mainly for storing movies and series, since my old 200gb hdd is dying and i was feeling it was very small anyway.
is there any significant advantage in buying a normal hdd instead of an external hdd in this case?

External drives are usually pretty shit since they appeal to normies who ran out of space on their $500 craptop. But if it's just a media drive it doesn't really matter.

no

External drives are bottlenecked by USB transfer speeds.
Always get an internal HDD unless you have a compelling reason not to.
External drives are usually slower and less reliable than internal drives.

Only get an external if you plan on taking your media drive with you everywhere (friends, business trips, family trips, whatever). Otherwise it really serves no purpose.

Consolation price in the super power genetic lottery. Still better than a tail though.
i'm getting an internal since i might need faster transfer speeds eventually just in case i end up putting a game or two in there. thanks a lot for the replies!
