I have the same username for most sites unless it's a site I don't want people that Google my name to see.

when it's one of those I just pick a couple things in my line of sight and some random numbers and it works.

first initial followed by last name. if it's taken, first name followed by last name.

for official accounts, official email, official government accounts, official work accounts, I use first initial followed by last name.

For non-official but business accounts, I rotate between few user names that don't relate to my name.

For games/trivial bullshit, I use cheap usernames that are linked to common interest.

I've been using a new/different username for different things now. Maybe I'll reuse one a couple times depending on what it is being used for, but I don't particularly like using one for everything, especially after seeing how easy it was to find friends accounts on other websites.
