I'm looking for a better alternative to the Asus RT-AC88U, I'm reading lots of negative reviews from people on amazon.
The reason why I'm even considering this router is because it has 8 Gigabit ethernet ports and AC wifi.

Maybe if you describe your use case and desired features we could help.
What do you want from a router?

RT-AC1900P

I was interested in this router because it has Gigabit throughput, 8 ports and AC wifi.

This has 4 ports, dear anon. I need 8.

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM A ROUTER?
>>60784449
Could you explain what do you mean by "What do you expect from a router"?
>>60784485
What features do you NEED.
What speeds are you look to get? How big is your house? Do you need a certain level of performance for VPN or QoS? What devices are you connecting with and how (wired or wireless), if wireless, what type of radios are they using? etc, etc.

Thanks for clarifying.
>Speeds
Gigabit for wired connections (lots of network sharing) / AC wifi to handle atleast 1080p streaming.
>How big is your house
Large house
>QoS and VPN
I'm only interested in high performance QoS, VPN is not necessary at all.
>Devices that are going to be connected to it
4 PCs and a playstation, it would be nice to have extra ports to use later, wireless for tablets and smartphones that will be streaming alteast 1080p content.

Get a fucking switch.
>>60784764
I thought about that, my main concern with it is the price for managed switches and buying extra networking gear. Also, this doesn't satisfy my need for AC wifi. I would end up buying to devices instead of one.

two*

For 1080p streaming you're better off getting a router for ~$150-200, a network switch to add more ethernet ports, and another AC wifi adapter to extend your wifi coverage, since almost no single wifi router will cover your entire house.
