Can software licensing even become a real world issue? Discuss.

>can licenses ever become a legal issue
Geee, I don't know anon.
>>60775354
Fuck, no I mean an issue for society as a whole.

Your question makes no sense. A license is in essence a contract. Contracts are used in society all the time, and contract breaches are dealt with by the legal system all the time.
I pirate GPL'd works and put them in proprietary software because I believe in freedom. This really triggers freetards.

It also triggers lawyers.

They'll never find it.
>>60775414
Then how can it trigger anyone?
>>60775421
You're kinda slow, eh?
>>60775433
I'm just pointing out that you're not triggering anyone by saying "LOL I used GPL'd code in my proprietary code, but I'm not telling you which program it is or what GPL code I used because I'm scared to death that I will get sued"
>>60775444
Triggered much?
>>60775330
When software companies license software for human prosthetics. Say you had some quadriplegic fellow with 4 robotic limbs. He can't pay his monthly subscription for the license, gets fucked.
>>60775453
Not even remotely. I don't know how you got that impression, but I suspect you may be projecting.
>>60775557
Confirmed.
>>60775375
That isn't an answer to his question. He's asking of the societal impact. Your answer implies the societal impact of contracts to be acceptable, yet that's a statement which would require an argument of its own. Just because contract breaches are dealt with by the legal system frequently doesn't mean contracts aren't a plague on society.
I'm not saying they necessarily are, I'm saying that you can't exclude that part of your argument.
Bear in mind, many contracts serve nefarious purposes or have poor wording. Contracts are not without their issues.
