Say your only computer is a laptop that you bring to work every day. It's extremely important that all of your fucked up bookmarks, photos, pdf's, whatever, are not present on that machine.

What's the best way to isolate that data without creating a completely new partition? The dream I guess would be to come home and autoconnect to a NAS or something and have the files symlinked into my home folders, and if possible have the settings for some of my programs (IRC, torrents etc.) stored there; that way it never touches my machine. Then when I head out the door it's back to being a normiebook.

I can't be the only one in the same situation.

Compile whatever you want to hide and zip it and encrypt the file.
Change the format to .dat and hide it in a game folder or a program or something.
