iOS will get File Management
>>60757743
Only a decade late!
who cares
>>60757743
It will only let you browse the equivallent /sdcard/ on Android. The filesystem on iOS devices is a clusterfuck, they even rename all your music into something like 783w74r7w3twe4t.mp3 for no reason.
How much does it cost?
>>60758036
Free.
>>60758012
wait really
>>60758227
free*
* = pay 9.99$ to rename a single file/look into a single folder
>>60758065
Plus a shit $600 phone
>>60758327
>making this shit up
All productive apps by Apple are Free of charge. No in-App purchases. They have never done an in-App microtransaction business model.

You do know that if Apple didn't let apps handle files ever since the first iPhone, it would have set a precedent where every phone's standard interactions begin in the file browser as it does on a PC. This would have resulted to moments where you have to be on time for something but would have to manage your files on the go, having it all simple in the app and/or cloud makes it way easier for everyday usage. Again, an iPhone is a phone, not a desktop PC. It has to be a good phone, not a good desktop PC. The same goes for memory management. The OS handles everything for you, it's even advised to not swipe up to close apps, and just keep every app in the app switcher. You shouldn't have to manage these things on a phone.
Wise words of Jobs: https://oleb.net/blog/2012/06/steve-jobs-on-the-file-system/
I would use an iPhone if these conditions are met
>file manager (done)
>fingerprint sensor on the back
>no camera bulge, or at least use a visor like the nexus
>sideloading apps enabled
>>60758914
>You shouldn't have to do X
>So we should prevent X
Power users should always be able to circumvent handholding, preferably through native options.
Wow so innovative.
Wee need to update the Android vs iPhone pic just to piss off normies again.
I can't wait to watch the keynote where they say how amazing this is
>>60758012
I remember trying a jailbreak file manager on iOS 3 or 4. Every picture was in a seperate random directory based on the date, with unreadable folder and file names.
>>60758948
why the hell would you want a finger print sensor on the least accessible part of the phone?
>>60757743
Nice to see they finally invented the file manager.
>>60757743
wow so fucking revolutionary!
>>60758012
There is a reason, obfuscation
They're trying to make it as hard as possible for 3rd party utilities to manage your music library
>>60757743
Nice.
That only took Applel how many years ?
>20 years later .webm support!
>innovation!
>yahooooooo!
>>60757775
And it'll be useless.
>>60758914
What a load of bollox. Android has file access and doesn't do that, even desktops have docks and start bars so you don't have to do this. You're talking total shit mate.
>>60757743
>iOS will get a native file manager before Android does
What a fucking joke. All the file managers on Android are shit and the ones that aren't always go to shit or stop being updated.
>>60757743
It's over Android is FINISHED
>>60759348
Yet they are still able to do it.
>>60758980
>Power users
Nice Microsoft marketing catchphrase again.
>>60763362
Stay casually mactoddler
>>60757743
>iPad only
Copy and paste 7 years later, file manager 10 years later. So much innovation.
>>60758914
Then how come I can do all this shit on MacOS?
>>60758012
You are not a girl
>>60763282
What is Solid Explorer?
>>60763526
macOS isn't a phone OS.
>>60763559
>paid bullshit
Was this a joke?
>>60758914
This is fucking stupid. Android has had a file manager since the beginning and no application has made you use it. In pretty much all cases they've only used it to enhance the experience and give the user a lot more control.
is this real??
then I can use my ipad for work now instead use it as FAP machine.
>getting a feature that android has had forever
>it took them this fucking long
>>60758914
>Mactoddle mad that Tim Cook did something right for once and actually added shit
Maybe go cry on mac forums and he'll courageously remove it in iOS because iOS is 'supposed' to a locked down toy.
>>60763759
>Can't afford to pay $0,99 for an app.
>Uses free, worse, ad-ridden alternatives that collect your data instead
Okay, anon. You do you.
>>60757743
>File Management
What this does in iphone?
>>60758531
>productive
Fuck off
>>60763899
>he thinks his closed source paid garbage isn't collecting data on him
Haha okay, anon. Keep telling yourself that.
When they are adding webm support?
>>60763676
But MacOS somehow isolates files either in your user library or inside the .app package, giving apps their own pseudo-isolated storage location that the user still has access to.
Did they explicitly say that iPhone gets the Files app? Because they only really talked about it in the context of iPad.
>>60764153
Pretty sure it's iPad only.
>>60764081
That's iOS. On macOS you put your files in your user folder and it's subdirectories. You can however save files within app locations inside iCloud Drive.
>>60763787
> Android has had a file manager since the beginning
Stop lying, Pajeet, Android never had file manager, all file managers for android are third-party pajeets shit
>>60764579
MacOS has files inside .app packages as well, just generally files which are specifically necessary for running the app. Files that the app creates are usually stored in user Library/Containers or user Library/Application Support. The user can also choose to save files in their general storage. iOS only has the .app package thing, or something very close to what it is on MacOS.
>>60766175
Depends on what you mean by 3rd party. I don't think Google has ever directly offered a file manager app, but some ROMs e.g. cyanogen come preinstalled with their own file manager. I assume some other ROMs do as well.
Really the important thing is the capability that Android has (and iOS lacks) for shared storage that can be accessed across multiple different apps, and by any file manager app that you grant permission to.
