Alright /g/oys, I got a T420s and I wanna dual-boot Win10 with some Linux distro. My main focuses are battery life, stability and essentially just a smooth feeling that Windows sorta fails to deliver. I still gotta keep Windows 10 because muh oldschool games.
So what distro would you recommend to a Linux beginner?
Inb4 >install gentoo
>>60740317
Ubuntu
>>60740331
Trisquel is ubuntu without the bloat so it will run faster.
>>60740352
Any alternatives that have been maintained past 2014?
Just Werks
Just add RPMFusion and gtg
>>60740909
mint or solus
but don't get solus, don't be a kevin
>>60740909
You can migrate more recent Ubuntu builds to Trisquel.
>>60740317
Pick fedora.
>>60740317
Ubuntu, but right now shit is in flux, so just go for one of the big non-Gnome Flavors
>>60740317
macOS
It runs flawlessly on the T420, dunno about the T420s but shouldn't be that different.

OS X. T420 is perfect for hackintosh.
Arch Linux. Don't listen to the other faggots here. User Arch Linux. I'm now typing this on Arch Linux, which is the Linux distro I use Arch Linux.

I am sorry sir I couldn't quite understand what Linux distribution you are using. Would you be so kind as to clarify once again?
>>60740317
Just got a T430, only linux experience inb4 is Ubuntu.
Installed Mint, (dualboot win7) like it better so far. Difference to me is appearance.
>>60741723
doesn't work with my wlan card
>>60740317
I use Fedora GNU+systemd
>>60740317
Mint
>>60740317
OpenBSD
>>60740921
I'm going to have to agree with this. I personally had a fuckload of issues with Ubuntu this release. Fedora's worked really well for me, on the other hand.

But does the wifi work? Talking about the non-free firmware boogeyman

Gentoo GNU+Linux-libre
