I know, but I want to know if it will actually hurt it.
My PC died, I'm using a laptop, can't verify if it's HDMI 1.3 or lower, but that's what I'm using to connect to my Viewsonic XG2703-GS and I'm limited to 1080p which is fine compared to the laptop screen, just didn't want to hurt the display.
It could also be the cable, want to verify if it will hurt it before I try to get a new cable and do further research on the port as the PDF for the laptop doesn't say what type it is. Laptop is an Inspiron 5520

It has an Intel HD graphics 40000

This states it's limited to 1080p at 60hz, I just wanted 1440p at 60hz, but I guess it won't happen.
So once again will running it below the native res hurt the display ?
