What's wrong with GIMP?
Everything and nothing
>>60737086
This doesn't help at all
>>60737079
Nuffin.
Nothing much wrong with it. Unfortunately it's been cast too often as a direct replacement for Photoshop, which it isn't.
>>60737079
Nothing. Since I discovered they're anti-SJW it became my favourite image manipulation program :^)
For a free photoshop alternative absolutely nothing
It's just a bit confusing when you used both Gimp and Photoshop
>>60737079
Problematic devs. Shit UI. Slow development.
The UI sucks
>>60737079
>>60737145
Where? I gotta share this with my SJW friends
>>60737189
Check their twitter
>>60737079
It's completely and utterly unintuitive.
>>60737079
It's not Photoshop therefore unusable.
>>60737079
The UX is terrible
Easiest example: All the transform tools could be combined into one tool.
Text tool is mediocre.
Still no CMYK support last I checked
Nondestructive editing still not supported
If they don't hurry up, Krita is going to start beating them at image manipulation and it isn't even made for that.
>>60737291
>use text tool
>dragging it, drags the background even though I have the text layer highlighted
>?????
>read online that i have to hold a key to drag the text book
>selection tools are all fucky making normal workflow tasks even more tedious
Using GIMP is complete hell.
>>60737291
>Krita is going to start beating them at image manipulation
It already does.
>>60737291
>>60737326
What can Gimp do that Krita can't do right now - because I'm ready to make the jump to Full Krita
>>60737185
>>60737189
>>60737159
>>60737145
Perhaps if they spent more time making a FUCKING working gui instead of politicking - we wouldn't have near constant "why is GIMP bad" threads
>>60737326
>>60737331
I like Gimp's selection tool more, the lasso can handle more than one stroke before creating a selection.
Also if you think Gimp's text tool is bad, Krita's is almost completely unusable. It's easier to export and do your text in inkscape. This is supposedly getting fixed soon though.
>>60737376
>almost completely unusable
This, and it looks like complete ass
>>60737342
>we wouldn't have near constant "why is GIMP bad" threads
Say what? We have been having Intel vs AMD threads more than anything.
>2k17
>people are too dumb to learn to photoshop
>>60737079
It's designed for people who like programming and know nothing about art or what is needed to make it.
The text tool is particularly infuriating.
>>60737415
About 4 in the past two weeks
>>60737456
I don't understand why they made it that way too. I can get behind design differences if there's a logic behind it. What were they thinking?
>>60737136
What about that affinity thing?
>>60737079
>the icon
>text tool
>interface
>brushes are terrible
>lags
>no CMYK support
>>60737291
>nondestructive editing still not supported
Aren't most raster edits destructive? I can't remember a program with this feature
>>60737079
Nothing really, I just wish it had a built in patch tool that was a easy to use as Photoshop's, and that I could get pressure sensitivity to work with my Huion h610. It's honestly probably a driver problem though.
It's GIMPed
>>60737159

wtf I love GIMP now

It be poop

Unfortunately i have to use this piece of shit since paint.net won't install on my machine.

By the way i am not a native speaker. Is gimp a racial slur or something like that?
I use Photofiltre 7.
>>60737693
Fucking Firefox """devs""" harassing humble GIMP developers.
>>60737662
>The Alternate Raster Designer
Oh my god, these people don't even know what an acronym is.
>>60737693
It means many things. Either someone with a physical disability, a gimp, someone who has had their specs gimped, or a submissive sex slave.

Apparently acronyms within acronyms is a new concept to some people.

The masterrace of image editors, kek.
Its meh for digital art, krita just feels better for it.
funny thing, I found this while i was searching GIMP
>>60737342
>someone shits on them for their name choice
>"dude, it's not a big deal"
>REEEE, stop politickk
Hard to beat illustrator, photoshop and flash
>with jasc animation shop 3 for gif sequencing
Looks like I have to give Krita a go though. Looks interesting.
>>60737662
>TARD
Fantastic, this guy must hate bakers.
They should just tell everyone it's actually pronounced "JIMP".
>>60737079
You can just download CS2 Photoshop. It's free right now. So what's the point of GIMP?
>>60737914
>1. Matter of preference
I've always used GIMP, when I was forced to use Photoshit the UI was the most counter-productive piece of shit I've ever had to deal with.
The reverse probably applies to Photoshop babbys.
>2. There's a plug-in for that
>>60737342
I always see this gui meme, but then open gimp and find my self wondering what the actual fuck you are all talking about. There is nothing wrong with the gui
We have to make a fork (exact clone) of GIMP called "GIMP Other Acronym To SJW Environment"
>>60738346
It's not. You have to own a license to legally use it. So might as well pirate the latest version.
>>60738346
It's not free. It's illegally gratis.
>>60738346
Did not know this, thanks.
