I tried introducing my mother to GNUCash and she hated it.
But everywhere else I see nothing but glowing praise.
What gives?
>>60736472
Is she American? Americans can't into personal finance.
>>60736482
Yes, but she can and does.
I think she uses Quicken.
>>60736491
Quicken has a nicer looking UI (looks over functionality) and doesn't operate based on double-entry book keeping.
>>60736245
Firefox, Thunderbird, Atom, and Krita are pretty good.
>>60736245
what s the point of gnucash? is it for people that cant manage finances and have 22 credit cards?
>>60736245
xpaint, try it.
>>60736245
Chrome is one of the best browsers tbhh
>>60736764
You'd know if you had any money to manage
>>60736781

>>60736754

>Is not open source
Anon, are you alright?
>>60736783

>>60737770
it's fun to see your networth increase
it's fun to see how much you've been spending on
it's fun to create budgets and beat them
>>60737865
I'm keeping track of my worth for last 6 years, makes a really nice slope. Also making sure you're not slowly spending more and more on things like food and utilities.
>>60737865
Dude, accounting is the opposite of fun. Useful though.
>>60737982
I find it fun though!
How is https://www.manager.io/
Has anyone used it?
>>60736312
Only if it had a good text editor.
>>60736245
depends on what you want
don't be a nigger and use KeePassX with all your accounts
>>60736781
Stop posting that autist

>Atom is a desktop application built with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and Node.js integration. It runs on Electron, a framework for building cross platform apps using web technologies.
lel
Some nigger on another thread was complaining LaTeX didn't had a good user interface, he is wrong.
Don't be a nigger and try LyX.
>>60736472
Either she didn't like the visual appearance since you most likely used a non-GTK based desktop like on Windows or she doesn't like double-entry keeping.
GNU cash is weird. It does respect my gtk theme, but it almost completely ignores my icon theme, so the "consistent look" is not the strongest part and for some people it's crucial.
Calibre
>>60741292
Gummi is also a pretty good *TeX editor
>>60741635
yeah but that is a strict tex editor wile LyX is more of a proper word processor with tex editing capabilities
>>60741350
what made you choose gtk over gt?
>>60742207
There was no lighweight Qt desktop available back then. (now you have lxqt which is still somewhat in infancy). After that it was momentum.
I'd like to ditch GTK since I don't like what's happening around gnome and the whole systemd fiasco but I don't think it's going to be possible in the next few years.
What do you use for Linux network monitoring? I saw someone say something about network daemon or something like that
VLC player.
>>60744415
Like what? For regular monitoring there is tcptrack, vnStat, iftop or even NetHogs, for latency monitoring there is bmon
