Different operating systems and design philosophies.

Apple likes a few very powerful cores, Android likes a lot of cores some low powered, some high powered.

Both do the job, apple just has the advantage in single core performance because they specifically want large monolithic cores whereas the android OS makes better use of multiple cores at lower power.

The A10 and A11 are absolute monsters, unfortunately held back by a shitty OS. Qualcomm CPUs are cancer and hold Android back.

Be aware that those are the single core points, the s8 leads in multicore.

Pretty much a TLDR:

>screen Galaxy S8 wins
>camera Galaxy slightly edges out iPhone
>durability iPhone wins by a mile there is no way to drop the S8 without it shattering

>UI lag iPhone wins
Pretty much if you like a nice screen and slightlynicer camera(both are shit compared to a cheap SLR) then get the S8, but overall the iPhone wins in pretty much everything else.

It's a good thing processor speed really doesn't mean a whole lot in phones. But it's possible because the s8 runs at a much higher resolution than the iPhone 7, if you turned the s8's resolution to one comparable to the 7, the performance would probably be close to the same. Although I don't think you can even turn the resolution down low enough to match the iPhone 7's.

The s8 also has much better build quality and waterproofing.

It's not, it's half a gen ahead. Also the battery and screen is far better. Personally, I'm fine with my ZUK Z2 which was $200 and is only marginally slower, with performance better than the mi 5s.
