I'm thinking 256?
>>
You'll regret not getting 93 extra for your rars.
>>
>>60730234
Intel 480
It's 480GB accessible for the user and 32GB on separate chips reserved for overprovisioning (wear leveling)
>>
120 for OS and programs
>>
2.5"
>>
>>60730234
256 is more than enough for OS and programs
>>60730265
this can work too.
>>
500GB models are affordable now
>>
256GB is only fine if you get an nvme drive
for "storage" and games, a sata 512-1TB ssd is fine

having a mechanical drive in a pc that's near you is a nightmare
>>
>>60730234
128GB is more than enough for OS and basic software
move your temp and AppData folders to HDD and you're golden
there's even enough space for one or two games which benefit from quick loading
>>
>move your temp and AppData folders to HDD and you're golden
you're a fucking idiot, i'll tell you that much
the point of the ssd was to access the shit fast, not have half your shit that you actually work with on stone-age spinnan' drives
>>
>>60730257
Intel's consumer ssds are looking themselves in read only mode after some time.

Kinston downgrades their chips after they've sent the good ones to reviews.

Never buy Intel and Kingston SSDs.
>>
XXL
>>
256. Especially if your going PCIe. 512 usually not worth the price unless you really need storage that fast. 256 is perfect for multiple OS, and 100-150 free for storage, then get an external drive for the rest of your shit (porn)
>>
>>60730342
why am I supposed to keep fucking temporary files on SSD? So it writes 2x the data while unpacking every fucking archive? And what's in appdata that has to load instantly?
I've been using it this way for few years now and it's just as fast as with appdata on SSD
>>
>>60730351
>are looking themselves in read only mode after some time.
You prefer SSD going into read only mode when it wears or you want it to completely die, leaving your data unrecoverable?
Are you fucking retarded anon?
>>
>>60730406
y'know, SSDs have additional blocks reserved just for wearing down, some manufacturers don't always use that thus kill the drive prematurely
>>
>>60730426
>SSDs have additional blocks reserved just for wearing down
and I think you're fucking retarded and you fail to understand how wear leveling works.
And this is exactly why I mentioned overprovisioning guaranteed by additional, inaccessible for the user space.

It's currently sitting at 38.3GB free, I need to get another one soon.
>>
>>60730466
What the fuck have you got stored on there?

Porn?...
>>
>>60730406
I am but what I oppose is predetermined life span for the ssd. Just lock the nand cell if it has been used much, not the entire ssd.
>>
>>60730506
I've lost track. I have my OS on it, most of my programs, and I think I have like 1.2TB of vidya. I'll have to go through it one of these days and clean it up a bit, move some stuff to my tiny 1TB HDD.
>>
>>60730234
2TB NVMe

You aren't poor, right?
>>
>>So it writes 2x the data while unpacking every fucking archive?
it still won't hit your ssd's life, you'll still get 20-30 years with the default folders and regular usage
>>
>>60730466
>doesn't leave 10% free during daily use
>Thinks he's better than us
Enjoy your drive failing
>>
>>60730568
I'll have to get one of those soon. They're not as expensive as I expected, not even $500 more than I paid for >>60730466.
Thanks anon.
>>60730617
It's an 850 Pro, which comes with a 10 year warranty. I'm not worried.
>>
>>60730351
You're dumb. Intel has some of the highest quality parts and best testing processes in the industry. Read the endurance spec for the drive you want, if it's too low for you usage, buy a different SSD. Intel drives will EASILY meet their rated endurance 99.9999 percent of the time.
>>
>>60730234
I have a 256gb for my Operating system along with a couple other applications that benefit from the faster read/write speed.
>>
>>60730234
I have a 256 and it's fine, but I bought it more than a year ago. If I were to do it today, I'd go 500gb
>>
>>60730617
What if you have two partitions, one of which has more than 10% (of the entire drive) space free but the other doesn't?
>>
>>60730637
kek 72TB endurance limit

Go be a Jew somewhere else.

Good bait. No-one even mentioned a 128GB in this thread. I've written 56TB to my primary drive over the last 2.5 years and I am a very heavy data user. An endurance rating of 144TB is not a cause for concern at all.
>>
>>60730552
kek
1.2TB of vidya, absolute madman
>>
>>60730234
No vidya: 256
Yes vidya: As large as you can afford
>>
>>60730234
128 is enough for OS + Programs w10LTSB takes up around 17.5gb after you disable hibernation.

Just move downloads folder and program cache folders(mainly browser and adobe suite) onto another drive and your set.

If you want to install gaymes on it then you will go up in size depending on how many games you want to install.

Most games don't benefit too much from an SSD though due to not having many loading screens. The big difference comes from having programs and operating system on it.

That being said 256 is pretty good price per GB and the 120-128 models are being discontinued.
>>
>>60730234
Whatever size is large enough to store your OS and most used programs
>>
240 gb ssd is minimum for non-intensive user and best size/cost ratio, but only if you keep your hoarding/data in other drives
Get more if you intend to speed up all your shit
>>
>>60730234
500GB will give you the most bang for the buck.
