Lastly, I'm absolutely in love with this 18 carat, rose gold TAG Heuer Carrera shitter purchased from the beautiful city of Perth. Made with sapphire infused glass that only diamond can scratch, I've spoiled myself with this gorgeous timepiece. The calibre 16 movement has been crowned as the most successful automatic chronograph movement ever produced, completely handmade by man. It is also my very first day date watch and it will be interesting to see if it becomes an important feature that Will depend on over time. I hope you all enjoy this watch as much as I do.

This one is actually kind of true though.
>>60729633
Don't be dumb, there's plenty of interesting watches under 2.5, especially if you count vintage. As long as you call a spade a spade there's nothing wrong with cheap watches.

Seriously though, what does /wt/ think about deadbeat seconds? Up until very recently only come swiss movement maker actually could make them on a mass scale. Now we've got tiny little Viennese workshops making them.
>>60729967
Not the prettiest of movement finishes, but it's the cheapest deadbeat seconds this side of quartz.

Were they too cheap to put a weight it making it automatic? It literally looks like its missing something.
deadbeat seconds are gay and for fags
>>60729990
It also fucks up the geometry of the watch. Plus try to change the date at around midnight and see what happens.
>>60730161
>Plus try to change the date at around midnight and see what happens.
That's just shitty design, nothing can be done about that
You would think they would make improvements to the watch if they are going to charge thousands more every year for the same thing

>>60730161
>>60729944
Can you have a flat crystal put on a subby with date?
I could read it fine without the cyclops or glasses
>>60730181
So you agree that a date function on a watch is dumb until someone fixes this design.
>>60730195
Yea but now it's called the Sea Dweller and cost an extra $5k.
>>60730196
I like the seiko style day date on the SKX007
I think it kind of sucks that you can't have a functional date on supposedly the best most iconic diver ever made that they charge $8,500 for

In all honesty it fucks up on the Seiko as well, sure you can try to change the date a few times on the Seiko. And it still might be okay, but doing it too much will result in the plastic date wheel snapping off and not changing at all. In Patek and/or JLC they have a small safety notch which activates around 11am to 1am which will not allow for date changes.
>>60730260
>>60730237
Honest question, can you buy a dial from rolex that does not have all those fucking words on it
>>60730313
No but you can get Rolex customized, which will turn its value into shit but if you're into that.
>>60729383
I'm thinking of buying that ice blue dial Day-Date 40. Someone tell me why I shouldn't.
>>60730313
>>60730313
>Honest question, can you buy a dial from rolex that does not have all those fucking words on it
Yes, and it looks much better IMO
>>60730414
Holy shit that does look better, how much does Rolex charge for that dial?
can you just keep the old one and swap it back to sell it?
>>60730350
Modding it will also render it "unservicable" by the official rolex service centers.
So if you did manage to remove the cyclops off a DJ or a Sub, Rolex would want to charge you for a new crystal before they would even consider touching the watch for service or repair.
Modded stuff, like those retarded "prohunter" pvd black coated subs can't be repaired by the official watchmakers. And they look like shit, and will look worse when the scratches on the coating occur. And they cost more.
>>60730427
That's a sterile "homage"/knockoff. A few printed letters and a coronet away from being a fake.
Rolex don't do sterile dials.
You'll have to shop around as these things can very greatly in quality.
>>60730493
And a winder crown and a marked bracelet and a backplate that says rolex
im probably forgetting some too
>mfw I like the plain fake rolex's looks better than a real rolex
>>60730520
>And a winder crown and a marked bracelet and a backplate that says rolex
Sterile homages come from the same factories in china as the fakes.
Look at those horrible hands, the lume, and the bezel pip for starters. Like I said, that watch is a few printed words and a coronet away from being an outright fake.
>>60729596
>>japshit will never compete with swiss shit
Japshit is better than Swiss shit. You get more out of a GS than a Rolex, for half the price. Swiss shit is only realivent because they built up a reputation when the Swiss actually made watches in switzerland, that they are now banking off of.
t. $1000 subbys cost $8000. You're literally paying $7000 just for the name. Hell Rolex couldn't even be bothered to make hands for their watches after switching to the shit maxicases.
>>60729967
Real question. Why would you want a mechanical watch that beats like a quartz? Why not just get a quartz watch at that point?
>>60730666
Where could you get a sterile subby with good lume and better quality hands etc?
>>60730666
Oh, wait, I thought >>60730520 meant that >>60730414 had a rolex marked bracelet and crown lol.
Not that I haven't seen that kind of get up around at least once I'm sure.
I once had a hard on for the sterile sub back when I couldn't afford anything else, but now when I look at it it's just too sterile. Too much expanse of nothing and I got bored of it quickly.
The old 2 liner sub is the best sub and its like will never be seen again because apparently people fucking love dial novellas and blingy shit.
>>60730712
If you had asked me that like 10 years ago I could've told you. Nowadays I don't know. Search for a sterile submariner and read the replies in the usual watch forums. Should get some clues from there.
>>60730703
>Real question. Why would you want a mechanical watch that beats like a quartz?
It's supposed to come from the times when doctors actually measured your pulse by holding your wrist and looking at their watches. It has something to do with the easier seconds-counting.
>>60730755
Am I wrong for thinking about getting a sterile subby if I can find one of good quality because I think it actually looks better than a rolly because the dial text is too much?
Does anyone here own an skx013? I'm concerned it might still be too big and thick on my tiny wrists.

The alpinist is far from a generic watch, especially seeing as I live in the south. I will probably never see anyone else wearing one.
And the strap is made by some guy on amazon. He also has an etsy store for leather goods. It's a nice, simple strap that I think looks better than most actual generic straps like pic related.

>Why is it people get so upset over which flavor of religion people believe in?
At least for Baptists or other real Christians it's because they know they will burn in hell if they don't accept Jesus Christ as their saviour. I mean what kind of asshole would you be if you thought that you knew the key to everlasting life and you DIDN'T try to win people over to the truth and save their soul? This is why I have very little respect for the majority of Orthodox, Catholic, non-Denoms, Methodists, Amish etc. as it's like they have the cure for cancer in their pocket and they're walking through a sea of sick, dying people and are like "nah fuck it, I'm keeping this to myself".
Any bible believing Christian cannot believe that "all roads lead to Heaven" as this is wildly unbiblical and is just cowardice, Satanism and postmodernism infecting Christianity.
Matthew 7:13-14
>Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Matthew 4:18-19
>And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
John 14:6
>Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Also here's a really nice Air-King. I can't believe you can get these things for less than $2000. Beautiful pieces, and the size is small by modern standards but not that terrible.

Oh, ok. But they must be reliable as fuck. No, they require regular servicing.
And the warranty must be for the full lifetime right? No, 5 years then any repairs are on you.
But you never have to wind it? No, you have to wind it, but it will do this for you automatically during the following activities:

>>60739809
no the 2824 is a much better movement and they are usually always finished better. But the ne15 is pretty accurate however it is a low beat movement. It has hand wind, quick set date, and hacking seconds. The ne20 is closer to a standard grade 2824.

A freind of mine really wanted that watch. He only had cheaper seiko watches for most of his life. He saved up for ages until he could afford it, placed the order and went to pick it up from a dealer. He drove 3 hrs to get there and when he arrived, the shop said the watch had failed to be delivered and they did not know when it would be available.
My freind went absolutely crazy and argued with the man and ended up throwing a rock through the window of the store and got arrested.

obviously but this is a dress watch and the explorer is a "sportier" watch also the original gilt explorer 1016 is classier in every way than the new explorer 1 albeit it at a higher price point.

>but the M5 is a better car if you like cars
why?
>>60740754
Faster, more fun to drive, rear wheel drive, corners better, accelerates quicker has a better stereo and seats cruises at interstate speed more smoothly, stops faster (better brakes) has more available options, more torque and horsepower
etc...
I would rather have an M5 and be without it an extra 2 days per year because it's down for maintenance than have a civic that never needed work
>>60740069
mad man
>>60740841
so basically muh fee fees
>>60740069
>>60740854
I don't know what a fee fee is, but it's more fun to drive a 400hp RWD car with good brakes than a 4cyl FWD econobox.
do you not enjoy driving?
>>60740875
I don't get what's fun about pretending to be a racecar driver on public roads where you can't actually drive fast or do anything fun anyway.
>>60740903
Did I say I was racing the car?
Just merging and getting up to speed on the interstate is better and safer when your car is not revving to 5000 rpm just to get up to speed.
Additionally as I mentioned the M5 stops quicker and that is a safety issue. It has a better quality interior and is just a better made car.
If it were not for trying to save money on construction the Civic would have better brakes and more horsepower
>>60740942
>If it were not for trying to save money on construction the Civic would have better brakes and more horsepower
Yeah and if you weren't trying to save money on literally every item ever made by man including a BMW then it would be perfect too but money exists.
Getting to 70 mph at a slightly less rpm doesn't sound fun to me, and it certainly doesn't sound $70,000 additional cost fun.
>>60740972
>Getting to 70 mph at a slightly less rpm doesn't sound fun to me
Then I suggest buying a cheap 4cyl economy car.
Please note acceleration was but one in a long line of things the M5 does better than a civic

>>60741322
Just confused as to why dopes would let themselves get suckered by the "luxury" meme.
Your watch being needlessly complicated to its own functional detriment and your car being needlessly complicated beyond the point you can actually use it is just burning money. No matter what you say you won't get any lasting satisfaction from having exotic wood in your car's interior or having a swiss name on your wrist. If you have that kind of money to burn spend it on going places and doing things instead of falling for the advertising and the rat race.
>>60741394
wood trim in a car is not needless complication, it's entirely cosmetic.
now, a car with electrohydraulic valve actuation, no dipstick, a 9-speed automatic, and touchscreen "infotainment"? That's a fucking waste of money.
>>60741394
Go get someone to give you a ride in a nice BMW then take a ride in a civic, you might not like it but you are getting something for the extra money in the BMW, the two cars are not of equal quality. He said "if you like cars" you apparently don't and therefore are not in that category. He didn't say "everyone should do this". A big nice house on nice property requires more maintenance and money than living in a trailer in a trailer park but you can't say you don't get anything for the extra money you spend
>If you have that kind of money to burn spend it on going places and doing things instead of falling for the advertising and the rat race.
you are just mad at the world, most people with cars like that have good jobs and do travel they are not buying a car then eating ramen noodles to make up for it- an M5 is kind of a business executive or doctor's car
>>60741488
>now, a car with electrohydraulic valve actuation, no dipstick, a 9-speed automatic, and touchscreen "infotainment"? That's a fucking waste of money.
for you
>>60741585
I have been in both and guess what, it feels like being in a car.
Having a good job doesn't mean you aren't burning money and you don't need to be eating ramen noodles for it to be a bad idea. Unless you are absurdly wealthy every dollar you spend could be spent on something else, buying "luxury" garbage is for people who can't think two weeks ahead. If you use the money you would have spent on dead african trees in your car cabin on saving and retiring earlier to do the things you really want you would be much better off.
No one on their deathbed reflects fondly on how much they impressed Mr. Jones next door with his fancy "luxury" junk.
>>60741689
So you are trying to change the guy's worldview to have a more philosophical attitude in general, and you are attempting to do that by calling him a boy racer for driving a 4door luxury car and making fun of him and being a dick.
