This thread is for the discussion of NyaaPantsu (pantsu.cat), a free (FOSS) torrent indexer, and other nyaa alternatives.
The aim of this project is to write a fully featured nyaa.se replacement in golang that anyone will be able to deploy locally or remotely.

>Why is Pantsu down/error 502?
Most likely because the team is deploying changes. Wait for a bit and refresh the page. It should be mostly stable now.

News

Not really. I can always go to horriblesubs or commie or whichever popular group I know about to find their release. It's the less popular groups that made nyaa important, all the smaller anime translations that got dumped in one spot to search. I'm not going to enter searches into 7 different websites every time I want to see if someone subbed something new.

Hello,

We are not going to setup a proper IRC channel because I don't know how
to use it. Discord might be a good choice.

Our site is not open source, It's not good idea because it is hackable.

I don't mind working with other anime torrent indexers. That's why I
added upload api/rss and etc.

I have thought about that but, It is not a good idea if me is the one
promoting the site. Let the fans do that.

I don't have even thought I want to.

Thank you for contacting us, Let me know if you still have questions or
request. :)

There was a search string parameter "exclude=XXX-YYY-ZZZ" both in web search and RSS feed requests. That filtered out all torrents uploaded by users with IDs XXX, YYY, and ZZZ from the resulting output.
>>
>>60726624
You might want to suggest it in the irc channel or create an issue about it on the github or wait for a dev to come around to the thread. I'm not sure if the devs are even aware of this function from the old nyaa in the first place.

Just search something on nyaa.cx and see the "Refine your search:" part on resulting page. Everyone who used nyaa search at least once can't be unaware of this. But I think it's pretty useless for pantsu anyway because nobody uploads to it directly and all scraped and recovered nyaa torrents would have the same user ID.

BTW, look at this: https://nyaa.pantsu.cat/view/934614
Who's the retard that uploaded it? Its title is "Kyoukai no Rinne - 59 [720p]" i.e. without a group tag while the filenames goes as "[HorribleSubs] Kyoukai no Rinne - 59 [720p].mkv". There are several more HS torrents like this. I hope it's not the scraper test run doing such kind of shit?

From an outsider point of view, you don't care who are the people behind it, the cartel doesn't mean anything, they just want their shitty animes. I asked some people what nyaa replacement they prefer and they all responded with either .si or anidex.
Only the improvement and avertisement on the long run will decide the fate of pantsu.

How often does anidex get scraped? I see a half day old torrent still hasn't been scraped yet. Also user names don't seem to get scraped so all uploads seem to be anonymous?
Would be nice if you could get usernames scraped as well so we can sort scraped torrents by uploader.

- Email Address field is left empty, display something along the lines of "leave empty if you don't want to change this"
- Put a help/documentation link next to the API token (I don't see it anywhere on the (main) page either)
- Maybe require current password to change settings, it's not clear when I have to enter my current pw for anything (I guess just for pw change currently)

Meanwhile the child developers respond with sarcasm and passive-aggression when met with challenges or inquiries into their non-performance.

>hey guys, what ever happened to that scraper that was coming soon a week and a half ago?

>patches welcome :p

So when an adult starts working on the project, the children are just SO amazed by the speed, efficiency and accuracy and SO unable to comprehend what they are seeing that they mistake competency as godhood. You see this happening a lot in sub-80 IQ societies, for example, when a "shaman" visits a rural village in India, they mistake him for a god. Fascinating parallel, actually.

okay so here is what is happening:

I believe I am starting to isolate some issues with the constant downtime; while the code is severely un-optimized it should be able in theory to still run, this is not my domain, but I have made some changes to the box which should keep both sites up and running, and I am monitoring it closely.

I am also going to start tuning every program to make the site have a notable speed improvement, and write up procedures for the configuration of said programs, I also have made some security improvements to the server in order to prevent IP leakage further.

I am still waiting on our upstream peer to pull the fiber; needless to say this has taken much longer than I expected, also I still would like to make improvements with the development procedures so I can assure a stable prod, but I would need to do that later at this point

Thats about it for now.

I don't understand the question. Doki isn't a content creator. They translate and encode. If you are asking about the quality, yes, they're fine. If they have a release for an anime you want to see and it's well seeded, then you might as well download it.

https://www.reddit.com/r/trackers/comments/6ee1yc/anirenacom_new_website_feature_list/

Looks like the people behind AniRena have finally stepped into the public spotlight after so many years.

One of the AniRena devs made a thread on reddit and he says Nyaazi has a lot of 502/503 errors due to using Python while Pantsu is riddled with faulty HTML usage due to using Go.

He doesn't seem to like Nyaazi since he knows Nyaazi likes talking shit about other trackers but his other dev, p2a, seems to be a Nyaazi cuck since he apparently helped with Nyaazi's backend.

Just use a real torrent tracker. Plenty of alternatives. You should understand by now that Pantsu is essentially just some college kid's senior project. Deadlines are drawn out, as if they were assigned by a lenient teacher, and everything pantsudev touches is half-assed, designed to save him effort.
>>
Question

After the original Nyaa went gone, what happened to torrents? are people still seeding them or they are gone? ; _ ;
>>
>>60732175
More sites the better.
It'd really be nice if sites actually made life easy for me by including a scraping api.
>>60732197
A lot of people kept seeding via dht to keep the torrents alive.
Would be nice if we could revive the original tracker.
>>
>>60732232
you would need to snipe nyaatorrents.info for that so pantsu can be the "official" nyaa.se replacement

That seems like it could get annoying, there has to be a better solution.
>>
>>60732287
The scraper checks against the hash for the torrent, if it's not already in the DB it inserts the info into the pantsu DB.
It does grab the username as well, but afaik there's nowhere in the DB to insert that information (just a userid, and if doesnt match up in other tables it presumably defaults to renchon).
Sooo, up to the pantsudev I guess.

For me, my approach to downloading anime has changed significantly. I had a BBT account, but lucky me, they deactivated my account for inactivity before they went private, so now I'll never get into the website again. I never bothered signing up on Animebytes and have always had a strong aversion to private trackers.

-----------------------------Old paradigm-----------------------------
>nyaa.se
Went here for all new stuff.

>bakabt.me
Old stuff was well seeded and offered in multiplicity.

>horriblesubs.info
Convenient place to find almost all new stuff on one page sometimes.

>doki, coalgirls and some other fansub groups' blogs
Worth checking out occasionally in addition to all of the above when looking for bluray rips.

>anidex.info

>new.nyaa.rip
>nyaa.cx
>anirena.com
Will be tentatively checking these out from time to time to see if there are any new developments.

>hi10anime.com
>animetorrents.me
Decent availability of older anime, but I don't like the fact that I have to make an account to pirate anime.

>various fansubbers' blogs (I made a pretty thorough list after the nyaapocalypse)
Source for torrents for some older anime and some XDCC packlists as well

>tokyoshosho.info
>anidex.info
>animetosho.org
>shanaproject.com
>acgnx.se/
>anizb.org

Wow, some pretty interesting info. About nyaa.se:
>AniRena has been around since 2003 and had one of the bigger subbing groups on it's tracker. Nyaa was going hard with advertising his tracker, going as far as snatching groups from AniRena towards his tracker by offering free hosting and what not.
About jaka:
>Also, AniDex is runned by Holo, who was first a supporter for AniRena, but ditched it when one of his staff members went rogue (jaka), at least, that is what p2a told me and shown some logs of that time. It's pretty much a wars, but p2a doesn't really give a fuck, he actually supports nyaa.si and gave them some coding help with backend tracker.
