I need something that will play music stored on my network hard-drive in my living room. Something cheap and easy with a good interface - not some cheesy interface like the PS3 etc.
I know a lot of people have been going to HTPC's for years, but I'd like something simple, small, and low power consumption. I have a Roku and the file player sucks balls. I've never used Apple TV or the like. I'd like something with a nice professional interface that will let me play different folders, playlists, files, save favorites, etc.
I used to have friends who knew all about tech and kept me in the loop, but I don't anymore, so I thought I'd ask here. Again, I'm looking for something "lightweight".
I'm reading now on using the PS3 to connect to a NAS, but the interface is just so clunky.
Anything out there kinda like Itunes or something that I can install on a PS3 or hardware I can buy cheaply?
Checking out QNAP for Roku now.
Anyone have anything?

mpd+ncmpcpp on a Raspbian.
You can even control it with your phone with MPDroid or some iPhone equivalent.
