if you're dead set on customisation, AOSPA is good and usually stable, However, it has very few supported devices.
But if you're willing to fork out for Nova and Custom Navigation Bar, as well as download Android N-ify you can get close to your phone being completely different.

I use smart launcher. The pro version has nice features and it's pretty clean.
