That's not really the point, the point is you can't even if you wanted to. You have B250 instead of Z270 and you bought a 7700 instead of a 7700k.


Literally anyone here could tell you the smarter investment was the 7700k and a Z270 board, even if you aren't OCing now, the 7700k is clocked 600mhz higher (4.22ghz stock vs 3.6Ghz on the 7700), and having bought it would have allowed you to OC it whenever you felt you needed more performance, regardless of what you might be doing now.

If you need more performance in a year or two, you'll have to buy another CPU, with the 7700k you could have just OC'd a bit and been fine for another year or two.

Funnily enough the CPU fan change reduced temperatures while gaming by about 5 °C. I still may change the CPU cooler altogether at some point though. There's not really much room for overclocking at the moment.

ryzen x series will use up to 1.5v's by default when xfr is enabled. i've seen my 1800x at absolute stock settings, so that means xfr enabled, AVERAGING 1.46v's for 30 minutes just doing light work loads that put a constant fluctuating load thats small enough to allow it to boost to 4.1ghz and keep it there.

oh i used hwinfo to monitor and get the average. i noticed this back in may when i got my 1800x. since then i tried three different ryzen processors on two different motherboards and noticed the same behavior. i even got a few people on overclock.net to look into it and they too noticed the same.

ryzen by default with certain load conditions can easily average 1.45+ volts. mostly shitty programs that cause a constant, very low load flucations. something that pegs a small load, removes it, and then pegs it again. causing a constant 3.7 to 4.1 back down to 3.7 and then back up to 4.1ghz load. like discord, battle.net app, and firecucks.

since amd's "boost / xfr" works by only doing "short" boosts with small loads for a few seconds, certain programs can abuse this and cause these "short" boosts to not be so short and consequently cause an average high vcore.

steam, origin, and nethier does edge and chrome do this though. they're not cpu abusers.

Nothing new, I read on the asrock forums the new agesa 1006 bios update is unstable and probably won't get released, not for the asrock boards atleast.. So more waiting.

I need to do some cable management, also does anyone know if there are shrouds or something that I can use to wrap the fan wires?
I don't like the bright yellow and blue wires ruining the aesthetic.

You could use a bit of management.... I hate that cooler.. You can unscrew the fan and flip it so the "AMD" logo is on the top if you care. also if you ever switch to AIO cooling and oc those VRMs to the left of the CPU get really hot so a fan is still recommended.

I don't think there is a better communication device on the market. 9.5+ hours of SoT if you're at 720p and even at full res I'm still getting 5.5+ of SoT.

The camera is phenomenal and the only slight gripe on the device is the fingerprint reader, which sucks for two days then muscle memory clicks in and it doesn't continue to be an issue.

If you don't mind janitoring a few apps off of it and changing the launcher -- i think it's a much better device than the Pixel; especially for media consumption.

What I really want is a mb that can oc via bclk, but they're all pretty fucking expensive. And no matx..

Really my best bet whould be to just sell both mb and cpu and wait for zen to mature more.

Im sure in the future we'll see alot better oc'ing cpus and good matx boards without all the bullshit.
