How is lollipop the best when marshmallow was the same exact thing with a massive boost to battery life?

I'm on 7.1.2 right now and it still just feels like lollipop anyways.
>>
>>60688313
It was
>>60688362
This desu. I wish there were still security updates for older versions of Android. There was literally nothing wrong with it and all they did from 5.0 and on was destroy it gradually
>>
Really all that Google's doing right now is bloat Android further to make us buy new phones that'll be able to run the bloat
My Nexus 5 worked just fine, but I rely on security patches and it seemed sluggish on Nougat, so I had to upgrade
Nougat is way too bloated, also features like the navbar ring were removed for absolutely no reason other than Google's shitty """"assistant""" (I know it was originally intended for Google Now, but I used it for a flashlight toggle and a mute switch. Too bad the only Android phones with a mute switch are the OPs)
Just give me Kitkat+monthly security patches+battery life improvements and I'm golden
>>
>>60688313
Still using it on my then-High-End Samsung tablet.

Runs everything just fine.

Man I miss the non material looking android
>>
It's all the same fucking shit, 1.6 -> 2.3 -> 4 were nice jumps and that's it, everything after 4 is irrelevant, who cares.

darn tootin.

Pre-Material-Design looks so aesthetic
>>
>>60689021
What's the difference between 6 and 7 for example

Apart from the worst multi windows feature on the market. Touchwiz has a better version since 2012
>>
The black look with the bright blue highlights were magnificent, truly it was an awesome beautiful simple and deadly efficient UX overall.

Been nothing but bloated bullshit since, sadly.
>>
>>60689793
>What's the difference between 6 and 7 for example
A new fucking way of running apps that makes Xposed super hard to be ported.
QS tiles now have a mini format that shows up when QS is collapsed.
Settings menu has subtitles for each entry that gives quick info about it.
You can set a different scaling without a hot reboot, instead it only nearly crashes systemui.
You can customize your navbar, which RR (and the ROMs it stole those features from) could do since ages already.
The clock on the statusbar can be set to display seconds.
>mfw I'd switch just for the last feature and Xposed is the only thing holding me back
>>
>>60688353

ftfy
Material design is cancer.
>>
7.1.2 is pretty great
>>

>QS tiles now have a mini format that shows up when QS is collapsed.
Also apps can add their own QS tiles
>>
>>60688576
The battery optimizations of lollipop and marshmallow are just restrictions on background jobs.
Meaning all those programmed services and receivers that worked fine before lollipop are no longer run, or run whenever Google deems fit.
So Google broke the cron system of Android apps to save battery. Stupid end users might find this fine but when you are developing an app that needs periodic attention without being in foreground then you are fucked.

That's the problem.

Pre-MD looks infinitely better than present-MD.
>>
>>60688313
Not perfect, but the best to date.
Also, this>>60694148. After you turn-off the display and put it away, your phone is practically dead for chunks of 30 minutes (missing notifications, apps not doing their regular tasks and so on). They solved battery problems by turning your phone into an expensive brick that sits in your pocket.
