Honestly with my 290x right now I play games fine at 1080p144hz and freesync. Easily one of the best purchases I've ever made. I'll upgrade cards if I get a better monitor. 4k is still a meme and high refresh is a must. Not to mention that nothing can even run stable 4k60 not even the 1080ti. Navi/Volta will hopefully be able to push 4k90 and I would love to pair that with a high refresh rate 4k monitor.

I don't think the vega will be even able to compete with the ti. Volta will be announced shortly after crushing anything AMD managed to get that comes close to the normal 10 lineup.

I am fairly sure you are incorrect - given AMD's track record.

They have historically released a re-cycled revision of their last generation and then a over-priced top-end card of the next generation. Then they release the mid-range and budget range cards of that generation. Then they re-recycle them again and release a top-end next-generation card.

RX 570 and RX 580 were higher-clocked housefire versions of the RX 470's and the RX 480. It would make sense for them to release their best RX VEGA now and charge a ridiculous amount like $1200 or more for it.

I will be shocked if they release VEGA cards in the price-range the 570 and the 580 occupy any time soon. I don't think Q1 2018 is far off.
