You need a paging file. Make it system ram + 12MB unless you plan to host VM's, in which case you can subtract the VM RAM but make your paging file 1.5x RAM + 12MB.

I set mine to 200-1024MB (it's currently at the minimum). Some larger applications seemed too unstable without one.

I ran without a paging file for years, but instituted a small one again about two years ago so that there was a place for my crashdumps to go. Not that I have many of them, but it can be handy to diagnose a problem more quickly.

Haven't seen any performance issues since I flipped it back on.

These were answers i was looking for. I used to go with no pagefile on 16gb with vista, never had probs. Looking to get into pc gaymen again mostly strategy like cities skylines and civ which can use shit tons of ram especially with mods. Ill give no page a go in w10 for a while first see how it goes.
