Question about latex.
Is it like a word processor? Or like wat?
This is where I heard about it
Like wtf
I know they say this, but is there a front end for a word processor or wtf
A document preparatory system seems auful like a word app. Can I download on windows?

Can I get a GUI or some shit for latex. So it like magically formats your document for you? Cool, and it makes it superawsome. OK. What do I install to get it?
>>60656655
Why do I need an application to download an application. Wtf is this shit. I'm in college for civ engineering. Math skills out the ass, but I'm notso good with writing. Anything that can format my documents to eyeorgasmic kevels will improve my grades. So can I use it like libreoffice or msoffice?
What the fuck is wrong with you?

I was kidding of course, if I had this I would have know LaTeX.
>So can I use it like libreoffice or msoffice?
Again, silly self, just read the explanation on how to get it to work in windows, it usually comes with an editor. Texmaker is a nice one I heard which is also for windows.
Don't forget it's Saga Dawa.

To.
Write.
An.
Essays.
That's fucking dumb. Why would anyone do this.
>>60656789
*essay
>>60656757
It's not "autoformat".
It's kind of like html, but you compile it afterwards to get a pdf.
>>60656775
#hehe
>>60656789
Why would you?
Have you read how to get it in windows? (or even linux) no commandline is needed anywhere if you don't want to use it.
>Why would anyone do this
You clearly haven't heard of vim/emacs + LaTeX.
>>60656825
Ok.
I am starting to get the picture.
Idea tho: an app that you type your essay, and it eyefuks it so good you get an a.
An auto document formater. It scans your text and makes it pop, with pazazz. You select essay, and it makes it serious learning buidnezz. Etc.
Is there one of those?
>>60656856
it's not an app. It's set of tools like compiler and packages.
Your write only markup. Like html. You can write your own style or use packages. Packages do dirty job for you. Numeration, inserting pictures, tables, tables hyphenation
( it's a pain in MSWord or other wysiwig).
Automate content and bibliography and other stuff. It's best tool to work with mathematical expressions.
You don't need latex if you not in academic field or some science.
>>60656856
Yeah; it's called formatting in latex and choose a good doccumenttype. {a given is you know basic LaTeX}
>An auto document formatter
To format/layout a document propperly one needs to know the text. I wouldn't trust an AI at this point to do this, even if I did I wouldn't have a machine to run it.
> It scans your text and makes it pop, with pazazz.
This has more to do with fonts and personal preference. I knew a company that liked comic sans on their daily briefings.
>Is there one of those?
There are some people capable of this, but an app... no.
>>60656957
This.
>>60656856
if you want to write with latex you have to know mostly a few commands which are braindead simple.
As far as I know there is no converter from a word document to latex. So you have to type your commands there. But I heard there is a Markdown to Latex converter.
Also you can go to sharelatex dot com and start there if you don't want to download anything. They also have some themes and boilerplate. They also have a helpful page which describe commands to new people.
Also not everybody knows every latex command, a simple web search will give you what you want. stackexchange has a category for tex documents.

>As far as I know there is no converter from a word document to latex.
Pandocpandoc -f docx -t latex -o out.tex in.docx
>>60656856
You can use LyX
https://www.sharelatex.com/
You can get started here without installing anything. If at some point you need to collaborate on a document with other people, you can do that by having everyone use sharelatex.
For offline work on Windows, I use MikTex.
Faggot of the day award goes to OP, no question about that.
It's not a replacement for Microsoft Word or Wordperfect or whatever else people are using these days. You would use it if you're publishing a text book or some shit because even though stuff like pic related is possible in WYSIWYG editors, it's going to be a major fuckabout.
