dear /g/ i have a problem that i cannot solve
i bought an audio cd from amazon yet when i try to use it on my car cd reader it doesnt work
i dont understand why
could the car disc reader be dying or is the disc defective?
it works fine on my desktop and my laptop readers.
i thought about making a copy of it and see if the copy works at least
what is a good simple free software to make a copy of the original disk?
thanks

try installing gentoo on it

Use Foobar 2000 to rip the disk. What might be going on is that the CD you bought isn't Orange Book compliant, and so cannot be read by older equiptment.

what is Orange Book?
>>60656035
epik meme XD

an orange book audiocd would suggest red book on multisession/CD-R, i doubt there are any professional music disc releases on multisession or CD-R discs

my car cd reader always worked with CD-R and copied discs
i really wanna know if the disc reader is dying somehow

maybe, but if it can read cd-r/w's still, i doubt it's the problem, cd lasers have a harder time reading those than pressed discs
it could be some weird DRM or mixed-mode stuff messing with your car player
i'd try ripping it and burning just the audio tracks to a CD-R and see how it goes

what program should i use to get that done?

EAC (windows)
morituri (linux)
